I loved the first half of the movie, the second half was okay but pretty messy.
i'm kinda the opposite here. i thought the first half was a huge mess and the second half was pretty good. a few things though...Megatron didn't do much. i'd have liked to seen more of him. and, when he attacked Sentinel Prime at the end i thought, 'cool, Optimus and Megatron are gonna team up!' didn't happen. i like it when rivals team up against a bigger threat.

Shockwave. would have liked to had more Shockwave in the movie. he was kinda built up and he was barley in the movie. everyone was having their eyes ripped out or shot out in the movie.

The decision to limit the bot on bot fight scenes was a big improvement. Sometimes the humour felt really forced. Carly was so obviouly just Megan Fox's character with two lines of backstory added. I survived Maggie Gyllenhall replacing Kate Bosworth (or was it the other Katie - whatever) in Dark Knight. I think I could have coped with re-casting the same character.

I hadn't realised (because the fight scenes were such a mess) that so few Autobots had survived the last movie.

I dunno, Carly appeared to have had some class, and Michaela was kinda trashy.

Katie Holmes, not Bosworth. Can't say I missed her much.

erm, only 4 died in ROTF: the Arcee trio and Jetfire. Skids and Mudflap survived, as did Jolt. we just don't know where they went in the meantime*. Ironhide, Ratchet, 'Bee, Prime, Sideswipe and Wheelie all returned.

maybe tehy were killed on a special op gone bad or maybe they were killed in a 'Con hunt.

Re: Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Discuss, Grading, Reviews (SPOILE

The comic has the twins killed by Sentinel after he kills Ironhide, which makes sence as even though they were cut from the film you can just make them out arriving at NEST with the other autobots at the start of the film.

Jolt is a mystery but your idea of him being killed during another mission makes sence.

I think given the right people and a good story they could do a Sth without Sam, they should keep Lennox and Epps though as I can't see them ditching NEST.

Carly was so much more than Mikaela in this movie. I loved the scene at the end where she manipulates Megatron into fighting Sentinel Prime. They should have used the character Carly straight from the start and developed some kind of natural character progression for her. I did have to laugh at the end of the movie when the two kissed and exchanged their "I Love You" vows in front of everyone, I thought to myself (well we know where that word gets the love interest in these movies now...fired!!). I just didn't by the on screen mention of Mikaela dumping Sam right after the two of them professed their love for her and she kind of saved his life (he conveniently forgot that fact about her). As much as Carly seemed to accept Sam for who she was (I thought Mikaela did as well) it was nice to see his frustrations and inequities from the first movie back at the start of this movie.

Is is just me or did it seem like Michael Bay shot Rosie Hungtington-Whitely much the same way he shot Scarlett Johannson in "The Island". There were a lot of the same glamor and sensual shots in both of these movies. He shot Megan pretty differently in my opinion so maybe it's just a blonde thing...or I'm over thinking things.

Sometimes love doesn't amount to a hill of beans in this complex world of transforming killer robots that hump your leg.

I imagine many people would have cheered if those two wimps were killed onscreen.:rommie:

i would have loved to seen Sentinel Prime kill the twins. a shame that wasn't in the movie.

Re: Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Discuss, Grading, Reviews (SPOILE

I'm not sure what they expected to see in this film.
I wanted to see some new and interesting autobots and decepticons (at least more than just Sentinel and Shockwave), and I wanted to be able to tell them apart.

And here I was thinking it my lack of knowledge of the Transformers that prevented me from knowing what was going on in the fights, when the first one aired on TV a week or so back

You a problem telling them apart? I could easily tell whenever Sentinel and Shockwave were onscreen.

Sentinel was the big red one who looked a little like Optimus.

Shockwave was the big metal colored one with the single red eye and two horns.

Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime, Bumblebee, Shockwave and maybe one or two others were distinctive enough, but a lot of the others were just big robots with a lot of busy designs and protrusions, like metal parts thrown together.

I agree that the most of the minor Transformer characters weren't very distinctive, especially the Decepticons goons, but they were grunts. It doesn't matter if we know who they were or not. I doubt many of them even had names.

The only thing I was a little disappointed on was that there were so few new Autobots in TF3. Megatron and Starscream also were used very little, which was a shame.

Re: Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Discuss, Grading, Reviews (SPOILE

Starscream was barely used in all three of the movies. Megatron was a tool in most of them (except for the first one where he actually did something and was the prominent villain).

Re: Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Discuss, Grading, Reviews (SPOILE

I went to see it mostly for the disaster porn of watching my city get blown up, and went to a theatre about two blocks from the river. So it was nice to walk out after the movie and see all of the buildings intact. ;)

I liked this much more than the second movie (which to me was just a blur of cgi mechanical parts and loud noises), even if it was distracting to see all of the areas that were clearly Milwaukee and Chicago being played off as DC in the beginning of the film.

^ The Deception assault and attack on the cities prior to setting up the space bridge pillars was impressive indeed. I was also impressed with the para-gliders...E.T.'s behind the scenes special showed the real guys who performed that stunt.

But the arc was designed for Mikaela, right down to the luscious lips, interest in cars, and trashy, tight, short outfits - women at the British Embassy don't dress like that at all - lol. All they did was add a scene where they meet and a couple of lines about her coming from the British Embassy. Take those out, overlook her accent (like Moira in X-men), change the name back and nothing she says or does is out of character for Mikaela. In fact, the scene at the end where she takes on Megatron felt out of place to me. If she'd had Mikaela's greater history and trailer trash moxy it would have felt more right.

^ There's no doubt that they just gave Rosie Megan's continued story line, that's what I mean about using Carly from the start. Make her own character.
