This is a nice development. I recall the rumor that he had wanted Nimoy to voice The Fallen (after seeing him briefly while both NuTrek and ROTF were being made), but he chickened out on asking him for the part.

This is awesome news. Yes Nimoy was supposed to be the voice of the Fallen...and is Bay's cousin through his wife I believe.

Pretty much what I thought he would look like.
Going mainly by the tie-in comics IDW is putting out, I'm thinking a lot of this film might be like the original plan for II-a war between the decepticon factions-Megatron vs. Shockwave (instead of Megatron vs. Starscream). Perhaps Prime and Megatron have to team up at the end to take down Shockwave? Sort of goes back to the old Marvels in a sense.
Also curious about Shockwave's design. In the IDW comics he is shown with a look similar to his toy/G1 design, but the movie and toys stills we've seen reflect somewhat a more "Bayverse" asthetic. maybe like Megatron he has more than one Cybertronian 'look'.

^ I was thinking about that myself. The thing that still has me worried about this time around is that Ehren Kruger is the sole writer for this film. 
I agree. Kruger's one of the worst screenwriter's breathing. Not that the first two Transformers were well written.
^ He script doctored the second film and is responsible for all the horrid jokes in that movie's script. As Whofan pointed out Orci and Kurtzman wrote a bad ass treatment for the second film that would have seen the Autobots and humans caught in a Decepticon civil war between Megs and Starcream. That was tossed out due to budget. Ehren Kruger was brought it to revise one of their later drafts.

I'd never try to argue the first is Oscar material but I really did enjoy the first one. It's in a pseudo rotation of films I put on as background when I don't or can't focus on something new while I do other stuff about the house.

I'm so sick of the tangled, twisted metal look of these robots, how hard is it to make them look more like the cartoon. They are barely recognizable even Optomus still looks like he has a magnet that picks up random pieces if metal along the way. I like these movies, but i'd love to see a reboot in the future.
