Trailer for the Oscar buzzing Eastwood/Jolie film CHANGELING

If you know the background behind this tragic true story, you could imagine this one to be quite bloody powerful (and painful).

I won't link to the true story as it would obviously completely spoil the film, but you can google "Wineville Chicken" if you don't mind knowing the details of the plot.

The film got raves at Cannes, and is generating HUGE Oscar buzz for a Jolie best actress nomination.

Fun fact: the script is written by J. Michael Straczynski, the creator of Babylon 5.
Fun fact #2: The score consists entirely of a guitar and a piano, and was completely written by Clint Eastwood.

I've been looking forward to seeing this film for a long time now because the script is written by J. Michael Straczynski. I think I first heard about the project two, three years ago when Straczynski first finished the script and Ron Howard picked it up (who was originally going to direct the film, but passed it on to Eastwood because of other commitments).

As for the trailer itself, it looks very interesting. I know nothing about the true story, so I'm quite intrigued about what happens. Straczynski, Eastwood, Jolie, and Malkovich? I'm sold!

While that's definitely part of the story, the movie's focus is on what happened to Christine Collins rather than the Wineville incidents.

Cool. I knew that the music was by Eastwood but not that it was only guitar and piano. I was liked the music in the trailer but that must not be part of the movie score.
Fun fact #3: When the script was sent out, JMS had interspersed copies of real newspaper clippings about the events in the movie to illustrate that it really was a true story.

I'm looking forward to this.

damn.. that is disturbing to watch..... made me sick to think something like that happened....

Eastwood has done most of his own composing the past couple of decades. He usually has Lennie Niehaus around to help orchestrate, conduct, arrange, etc. though. Eastwood's scores have been guitar and piano heavy, too. See the guitar theme from Space Cowboys or the piano theme from Mystic River.

Wow, looks like a great movie! I always loved period pieces and Angelina Jolie is one of my favorite actors. Is this movie going to be a wide release or is it only going to be released in the major US cities?

There's supposed to be a limited release Oct. 24 but then nationwide release on Oct. 31.
