trailer for "A Christmas Carol" on BBC site

^ WTF?

Karen Gillan is carrying the show (with some help from Alex Kingston). They'd be crazy to get rid of her now.

Just curious, is Children in Need kind of the UK Equivilant of the Make a Wish Foundation? I really like that foundation a lot and it seems like CIN is great too. Loved the tea party moments, even though the Kids looked a bit lost. ;)

no, the closest we have to Make-A-Wish is Winston's Wish.

Children in Need is an annual charity telethon which raises money for various childrens charities. occassionally, some lucky tyke gets a special treat for the telethon like those two, or like the kids who got to meet F1 racers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button and go karting with them.

Trailer looks promising. I thought we were going to get a two to five minute segment of the actual special like the other year, but some how, i prefere a trailer.

Looks like wardrobe have ditched the old man hospital stolen clothes in favour of a new set of glad rags like we saw in SJA: Death of the Doctor. Dunno if i like the formal look, the neuty of the old style shirt was that it old and frumpy which had the charm. i dunno, could be a better choice i suppose.

Looks cool though, Gambon as brilliant as ever.

Bit with the chimney cracks me up, Smiths physical comedy is still a highlight of the current show, its not too OTT slapstick, its just enough without making you groan.

Did anyone else have a morbid desire to see the two boys dressed in mini-me Doc 11 outfits, a la "In a Fix with Sontarans?"

Seriously, that was really cute and touching. Neat trailer, too.

Hmm, I wasn't crazy about the Christmas Carol idea at first, but I have to admit that looked pretty damn good!

I was worried this would just be some soft, feel-good Christmas thing, but this actually looks like it'll be pretty dark and complex.

It looks like it might be a fairly straight variation of the Dicken's tale, with The Doctor and his companions as the three ghosts who visit Scrooge. And even though this idea has been done to death over the years, on many major TV dramas and nearly every American sit-com, I'd still love to see the Whovian take on that.

Well I sure as hell can't wait!

Interesting to see Rory and Amy in their policewoman and Roman outfits. I'm guessing they're playing the ghosts of present and future?

Speculation: The boy and the young man are the old guy, and the Doctor needs his cooperation to release whoever the frozen people are in the ship thats been in his cellar all these years?

Hmmm, wonder what the shark thing is?

BBC press office has release the synopsis

Amy and Rory are trapped on a crashing space liner, and the only way The Doctor can rescue them is to save the soul of a lonely old miser, in a festive edition of the time-travelling adventure, written by Steven Moffat. But is Kazran Sardick, the richest man in Sardicktown, beyond redemption? And what is lurking in the fogs of Christmas Eve?

and some promo pictures
