trailer for "A Christmas Carol" on BBC site

Naturally, we can't see it if we're not in the UK - dieu merci, YouTube!

There are several interesting bits here! Not the least of which is a snapshot of human beings on a spaceship, wearing very obviously futuristic uniforms. As a constant critic of the use of off-the-shelf, everyday wardrobe and fashion on humans in this show no matter how far in the future they are (the year 200,000, five billion, 100 trillion - sneakers, jeans and T-shirts NEVER go out of style!), this is a welcome change that will hopefully not look as dated as bubblewrap aliens or cricket-gloved Cybermen in 40 years...

From the Doctor Who News Page, includes the YouTube link:

It works in Canada. And there's also an official BBC America YouTube posting apparently as well.

When it comes to trailers, ignore the BBC main site, as they tend to release them to YouTube soon after, as has been the case here.

Looks fantastic. And do my eyes deceive me or is that Amy wearing everyone's favorite kissogram costume about 1/2 of the way through the trailer (hint: pause during the scene that looks like she's on the bridge of the Enterprise - and I'm not exaggerating, at first glance it really does look like the classic Enterprise bridge!).

Looks pretty dark-the thing about the previous specials, is while they did feature a bit of dark moments here and there, they still were generally lighthearted and adventourous IMO.

Time can be rewritten is an interesting tagline, and one we've heard before.....perhaps the special will continue the theme.

I noticed that too, also I think Rory appears for a moment in his Centurion outfit.

Amy and Rory's outfits make this very interesting...what with the whole time can be rewritten tagline (again)...

Looks good anyway, was lucky enough to catch it on CiN earlier as well!

I thought I read something yesterday saying that this was supposed to be a "fun" special? The Trailer was good, but it was surprisingly dark, both in lighting and tone and that was a bit..."Interesting." I have even more renewed interest for this since I heard the news that this will actually air on Christmas Day so I can't wait but I do wonder what kind of tone this episode will have now based on that.

Well let's face it, the Actual A Christmas Carol isn't exactly a barrel of laughs...

No, but this is Doctor Who who poked fun at Charles Dickens and The Queen. Everything is up in the air and I wouldn't mind if they changed things up a bit.

What I've heard from Moffat consistently is that it's the "most Christmassy." Which doesn't necessarily equal fun. :)

If you think about it, the RTD-era Christmas specials aren't Christmassy at all. They're just stories set at Christmas. They just have the trappings of Christmas.

Just curious, is Children in Need kind of the UK Equivilant of the Make a Wish Foundation? I really like that foundation a lot and it seems like CIN is great too. Loved the tea party moments, even though the Kids looked a bit lost. ;)

The kids were smart. They bypassed Matt Smith as The Doctor and just asked Matt Smith a question

"Did you go to an acting club?

Matt and Karen didn't talk down to them either

Oh, don't get me wrong, it was an awesome clip, and the kids are smart, but If I got to meet the Doctor and Companion inside the Tardis, I would have been a little more giddy probably.

Its a yearly BBC teleathon.

I think the trailer looks promising, just really hope they get rid of Amy next season. She was the worst part of S5. Hopefully its better than The Next Doctor (that was Christmas right?), I enjoyed the rest of the RTD Christmas specials (esp EoT).
