Tradition be Dammed...

^

Think of all the other resources that could be shut down with the whole crew in stasis, though. No holodecks, no kitchen, no lights in most areas...all Seven seemed to need was periodic visits to sickbay, astrometrics & her alcove.

And they weren't travelin' at warp speed, either.

:borg:

It could have been done, that is my opinion. This situation has been a mystry since he vanished, having his body intact prove that there is more out in interstellar space that we imagined...

Because sensor logs, tricorder readings, eyewitness reports & his own logs from the shuttle aren't enough, they should carry the corpse along with 'em, too?

It's a tradition hearkening back to being buried at sea if you were a sailor.
Sometimes. During the Napoleonic era in France (which was Catholic) the French Navy would store the corpses of it's personnel in a lower hold, for later on shore verification. Basically so French widows could remarry.

. There probably wouldn't have been enough room to put them all in stasis anyway.
You wouldn't have to put them in stasis, place them in a de-pressurized unheated chamber of the ship, a little storage hold somewhere. True, by the time you return to Earth the corpse would be a freeze dried piece of beef jerky, but it would be (basically) intact.

One of the reasons we have cemeteries is so everyone can have their little monument to their life and existence.

:)

Yeah, because that's respectful!

That's the same thinkin' that goes into memorials & statues, which don't have to contain the bodies!

:guffaw:

You know!?
It's basically the futuristic answer to the pinebox.
