Toys out early!

I finally found some toys today. :)

I got the Enterprise, and a communicator. I already have a bunch of phasers, and the new one really doesn't do it for me. My favorite is my copper handled Art Asylum version. It's funny how it and the new communicator look like they could go together.

On the Enterprise, it looks like the impulse engine on the back was hand painted... and the light bleeds through like crazy. I still like it, though. I wish the Art Asylum stands were as sturdy as this one is.

Here in rural America, I have not found any of the Phaser, etc. Hopefully they will come soon... from the pics, I think I like the chromed versions better.

TRU in Reading (UK) had everything except 6" Cpt. Pike. They had quite a few 3.75" Uhuras (a lot more than 1 in 25) - are the case ratios different here than in the US?

The 3.75" figures did NOT seem to come with the additional Transporter & Bridge parts - can anyone confirm whether this is true? The Transporter set advertises the situation still...

I didn't actually buy any 3.75" figures in the end, despite wanting them since last year! Looking at them, and the 6", I went for a 6" Spock in the end and was very impressed. Great figure! I'm not ruling out the 3.75" but will probably wait until they're in a multi-buy option. The price difference is £6.99 to £9.99, and you get a lot more bang for your buck with the £9.99 figures.

Knowing me, I'll end up getting all sized figures - something I swore I wouldn't do. D'oh!

It was just great to see Star Trek back on the toy pegs again! I predict these are going to be v. popular with kids...

I think the ratios are different outside of the U.S. There's a long-held stigma that female action figures do not sell well in the U.S., so it's not uncommon to short pack female figures over here. Outside of the U.S., the ratios are likely to be different.

It also depends on how many cases are opened in your local store too.

It's true--at least from what I've seen. The bridge & transporter pieces are usually hidden behind some of the packaging and usually consist of a chair and a control panel. The 3.75-inch Uhura figure comes with one of the transporter room pads...

It'd be interesting to see what happens once the movie is out...
:bolian:

Just bought some of the toys in TRU Reading; the Enterprise is cool, as is the phaser. Also bought the bridge set, but was surprised that the Galaxy Uhura didn't have any bridge pieces; I was under the impression they were supposed to be included.

I got the 3 inch figures a week ago. They're not bad little toys. Although the paint jobs could be better, my Pike's eyes are painted so they're constantly looking to the left. And as I was inspecting the bridge pieces I noticed that even the toys have lense flares on them

I think I've seen everything that's out by now. Nice collection. I won't be getting most of it, but it looks awesome on pegs and shelves.

Look above a few posts - looks like the UK are being stiffed again with regards to this. We're not getting the bonus pieces. So, the question then becomes - are we getting them all thrown in with the Transporter/Bridge sets instead or are we literally not getting any of them!?!

Anyone (in the UK) got the Bridge/Transporter set to confirm...?

Yeah, I've just opened the Bridge set and definitely no "extra" pieces, yet the Galaxy Uhura didn't come with any of the bridge pieces either. So where the hell are we supposed to get them?! :)

Be glad Hasbro didn't make these toys. With STAR WARS and G.I. JOE you often have to buy expensive vehicles and playsets just to get common sense accessories.

I walked by Toys-R-Expensive on my lunch hour this afternoon, decided to pop in and see if the Trek toys were there.

I was tempted to drop about a hundred bucks on the whole deal - I really liked the Enterprise itself - but finally just bought a communicator. I love it - just as cool in its own way as the TOS jobby, and really more reminiscent of it in detail when you hold it than in the pictures.

I just made what is either the best deal of all time on the 3.75" line or else a gigantic scam , I'm not sure. An online retailer offered the entire line for 13.99 Euro (that's 18.50 USD), which I found hard to believe. I emailed him to clarify if this offer really meant ALL the figures or just to select one from the line. Apparently it really means all of them, so I bought them on a dare. I remain skeptical. Come May 5, we'll see...

What I found interesting is that this person listed among the figures "Scotty in Frozen Planet Outfit". I wonder if this is a miscommunication from his source or if Europe is getting a different figure than the US?

(Oh, and please don't tell me "You were ripped off". I already feel like it.)

Let's face it, if you paid to see NEM you are already used to being ripped off. :guffaw:If it is legit, send me the information!:bolian:

I hope it is legit. Also, thanks for adding it here and not starting a new thread on it.

No, I didn't see it that way back then. I actually enjoyed NEM quite a bit in the theater... Anyway, this guy's eBay store looks legit and he seems to have a reputation to protect, so I should feel safe, but then again, he couldn't make any sort of profit from this unless these figures fell off a truck, if you know what I mean... We'll wait and see.

Same here. Good luck and if it's legit, let us know and give us some linkage!

I've gotten a few items so far. The Enterprise is great. Looks nice next to my Art Asylum ships. I've always liked the design so this was to be expected.

I've also got a Kirk figure and the Transporter in the 3 3/4" line. The figures are...just ok. They don't sit very well and they seem small and flimsy when matched against similarly sized GI JOE (even the 80's Joes) and Star Wars figures. The accessories they come with are nice but these figures are pretty frail. They kind of remind me of the cruddy figures that came with the old Wheeled Warriors toys...but they're levels above those, of course.

The transporter is pretty neat in terms of how it works. You have to make sure the transporter pod snaps down on the base the figure is sitting on...and to put the pod over the sitting figure on the transporter pad isn't as simple as it might seem...the pod is barely wide enough to accept the figure because of the width of the figure's shoulders. I have to turn the figures slightly for it snap on to the base easily. The effect is very nice.

I like the phaser in terms of look and weight. It could be a little less chrome (as some have modified it to be) but maybe that's how they look in the film. One thing is for sure...I'm not very impressed with the sounds. Both are very short and sound pretty crappy...my Enterprise phase pistol and TOS Type II Phaser from Art Asylum both sound much better. At least it takes regular batteries (I think) instead of the pain in the ass button batteries like my other toy phasers. Maybe the batteries on mine are what make the sound sound so crappy...but I don't think so.

I got a Tricorder I pre-ordered coming in the mail.

I may look for an Enterprise when I go to a *real* town next week - but I'm in the process of moving and don't know where I could store it...

(It would be nice if eventually someone will come out with all three - TOS, TMP-refit, & JJ-prize - versions to matching scale, so I could display them side by side...)
