Welcome to the SCREAM VI thread. I'm only sorry Jenna Ortega was roped in once again to suffer the never-ending masturbatory franchise of film-swill which should have gone out with a high note in 1997 and called it quits after two installments.

Of course, that's just my opinion, but the last three chapters proved it essentially right. I never bothered with the TV show. Your thoughts?

I suppose this really belongs in TV and media as opposed to Fantasy, though too many Kool-aid drinkers seem to overly fantasize about the legion of Ghostfaces....

That was my mistake, but wasting time watching SCREAM 5 was a far bigger one.

I have only seen parts of the first movie so can't say much about them except there must be an audience if they keep making them.

The hilarious thing was that Wes Craven was trying to kill the Slasher Genre with "Scream" but instead he created a whole new subgenre and REVIVED the slasher genre which was near-dead by the 90s anyways...

Let the “VI” in the title be the warning that you won’t like it if you already didn’t like the previous movies. Life is too short for such vitriol in a thread.

There is a reason why “Jaws V” and “Superman V” never happened.

I have a really good excuse for seeing Bill Cosby in “Leonard Part VI”. It was a free ticket for its first Australian preview screening, on a Sunday morning for families - and included a “sausage sizzle” in the car park afterwards. But it was also the only movie in that particular franchise, despite the “VI”.

Yes...

Never even watched the first two films - didn't like the concept and was already quite burned out on the 'classic' slasher flicks when these first showed up.

Only vaguely aware that there were several more (pretty much pointless) sequels and well...so, there's another...

The first two movies, and the third to a lesser extent, were brilliant homages/critiques of the genre with all kinds of great stuff for people who were into B horror movies of the seventies and eighties.

He came back for Part Four at any rate.......but after Five, Neve Campbell finally had enough. One of the (ugh) ''core four'' newcomers told PEOPLE he's up for a thousand more. Fortunately at this point life's still too short.

Wes Craven did attempt to escape the genre and direct a drama on occasion. It got Meryl Streep an Oscar nomination but little else financially. While I enjoyed the third and some of the fourth NIGHTMAREs ON ELM STREET, it seemed to me Craven was continually forced to churn out dead teenagers ad infinitum just to get attention. Which is how he got his first notorious screen credit with the original LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, which is another mixed bag, and a countrified remake of a foreign art film.

I'm obviously and thoroughly disenfranchised with it all. Craven wanted better projects. Campbell probably deserved better, despite her repeated simpering from chapter to chapter. If it were actual empowerment on display, the villain or generic mask-menace imitators would stay dead or give up the ghost, wouldn't you think? I feel the fans of SCREAM 3 through whatever also deserve better, instead of a misguided shrine to two previous shrines which were entertaining but misguided shrines to overrated cliched shrines of ''modern horror'' to begin with.

I will admit to liking Courteney Cox, but only on MISFITS OF SCIENCE and FAMILY TIES.
