Totally OT, but I worked hard on it - WWII what-ifs

Being a big P-47 fan, I've always wanted to see some of the experimental variants in operational markings. I finally got around to doing it, although as profiles, not as models. So here are some ideas of the prototype XP-47H and XP-72 in service markings:

All art done in CorelDraw, as always.

Very cool! I'd love to see what you could do with something a friend of mine thought up, and which I think could have some story potential: prop-era fighters (P-51D, P-47, P-38, etc.) in airline liveries, for an alternate history wherein the airlines have their own fighter escorts. Given that it's an alternate history, I suppose they could even use liveries based upon more current designs, such as Virgin, Northwest, etc. - personally, I'd like to see a Constellation and its fighter escort in the current Air Force One livery.

Ahhh, just letting my mind roam ... :D

BTW, that's an interesting variant on the P-47; it almost looks like a P-51A with that scoop (or bulge) underneath. Nice work, as always!

Nice work there, John! I love seeing "what-ifs"! What version of Corel Draw are you using?

The current issue, Corel Graphics Suite X3 (which is their way of avoiding putting "version 13" on the box).

But I *like* the number 13! (I still use v8 myself, can't afford to upgrade.)

Great job!!!

Request:...

I'm working on a WW2-era Batman story. In it, the Dark Knight flies a Batplane which is nothing more than a USAAF fighter. It could be a P-47!!!

Great work! It's nice to see some "USAAF '46" stuff rather than the usual Nazi hardware. Inspired by your drawings, I'm working on a P-75A Eagle and a B-42 Mixmaster.

awesome work!

Valom just came out with a pair of P-75 kits. Squadron has them.
Yeah, I saw them yesterday when I was looking for P-75 references. They look pretty cool. Seems that the USAF Museum is also making some progress on its restoration. Big Pic of P-75 undergoing restoration

Anyway, here's my Eagle. For those who aren't familiar with this plane, it's a contra-prop escort/interceptor. But I didn't draw the props.

Next will be a A2D Skyshark in the Skyraider colors of grey over white with a hornet on its tail
