TOS Shuttlecraft chairs

Correct, the episode you refer to is "By Any Other Name" during the fight scene in the rec room.

There it is. One of the back rests is on the floor in front of Kirk’s stunt double.

Yeah, looking at the shuttlecraft chairs as closely as I can, I'd hazard a guess that they used some Burke chairs to make molds, either layed them up in black or painted them black, then modified the base and added the arm rests. It really looks like exactly the same form, as far as I can tell.

They may have been loosely based on the Burkes but they are much different.

Here are a few frames from "By Any Other Name" of the chair back being pulled off.

Paul Baxley did a lot of stunts for the Shat although Don Eitner did stand in for him in an episode or two!

Just to make sure we're on the same page, I'm talking about the 116s, the chairs with the arms. I agree that the 115s were very different.
What started all this for me is that I have 4 of the 116s (I think; I haven't flipped them over to look for manufacturer's data) and two tulip base tables which my wife bought for my birthday a while back. I've been trying to determine what to do with them. In the shot of the shuttlecraft chairs posted upstream, if there's a difference in the contours between those chairs then it's definitely a matter of degree.

Quick question about the Burke 115 chairs: do we know anything abou the three triangles on the back?

Were they a Burke feature, or added for the show? They match the color perfectly, and look very "professional." They don't look hand-made or stuck-on at all. If they were added for the show, as I suspect, I wonder what the thinking was.
They were added for the show. The entire chair was painted which is whey the color matches.

Got any pictures of your stuff?

I don't recall ever seeing the back of a Burke 116. I wonder if they had the triangles.

The property master had at least three 116's on hand:

They were armed and dangerous (in danger of the back extender falling off, as it appeared to lean a lot further than the 115 version.

And if you look REEEAAALLL close at that picture, you have the answer to the question about the triangles. Yes...the 116 on the right side of the picture has a slightly visible side view of the triangles.

There are pics online somewhere of the modding of the Burke chairs for TOS or for one of the fan series. I can't remember which, or where I saw them, but I'd be willing to bet that @feek61 knows exactly what I mean. :techman:
