TOS Regulars and Guest Stars in Commercials

Maurice

That's Mira Romaine alright. It's kind of jarring now to see cigarette commercials and realize we used to watch them all the time.

That Canadian Loblaws commercial is dated 1985; it would have been after STIII and before IV. Just makes me wonder if he didn't make enough money on the movies or what.

Pretty cool; thanks for the heads up! It's fun.

I ran across a pair of old commericals for Kool cigarettes in one YouTube video, and I swear the woman in the second ad (starting one minute in) is Jan Shutan, who played Mira Romaine in "The Lights of Zetar".

Then there's this 70s spot with Shatner shilling for Loblaws supermarkets.

Got me thinking if there were any other commercials out there with TOS actors, besides the obvious Shatner ones for Priceline and Commodore Vic-20 computers.

Anyone?

Hi DS9, there's also the Promise margarine commercial that Shatner did with his second wife, Marcy (in the 1970s? in any case, it was some time ago)...

"You call it corn. We call it maize..."

Edit: I could have sworn that line was from the Shatner commercial, but I got my brands mixed up. Never mind.

Two more: "Admiral Komack" for Allstate (regional?), and recently, Nimoy for Aleve.

Really? It looks much more like Shatner of the 70s to me.

Trust me when I state that the Loblaws commercial is from 1973-1975. Shatner filmed about a half dozen of thsm, one of them a dramatic "Loblaws Bingo" commercial whereby some of his verve spills over into marked athleticism.

Besides, I'm a Shat expert. The mid-70's "piece" he's sporting is nothing like the TJ Hooker-era hair helmet Shat wore for Trek II and III.

That's what I thought, too. The hair is too much from the hungry years...
