TOS Red Alert Klaxon?

This may sound like a rediculous question. But what do you think Abrams will use for the 1701's red alert klaxon, the original TOS sound, which was also used in TNG, or something that's closer to TMP, or even VOY? Rumor has it that the TOS door swoosh sound effect will be used, but don't know what they're going to use for Red Alert?

The Red Alert sound is iconic, there's no reason to change it.

WHOOP!! WHOOP!!

It'll launch you out of bed for the midnight klingon attack, that's for sure.

It's a klaxon, StarMan ... it's not supposed to give you the warm and fuzzies, it's supposed to irritate you!

It's meant to irritate the crew of the Starship Enterprise, not me.

Can't we have something more in line with Voyager and *pretend* it irritates them?

I like the sound, and I'd be happy if they kept it. :)

I guess an interesting question not often broached here is how aurally consistent the film will be with TOS. The teaser trailer which had a few aural touches from TOS, suggests that we'll at least be getting some of the old sound SFX.

With home cinema in alot of people's homes I really hope they go out to town on the sound mix, mixing iconic trek sounds with new ones for us to get into.

TOS had great music. There was the 'fight' music, the 'dramatic danger' music, the 'hero' music, etc. There was even a 'joke' music theme. They were all great, so I hope we get a few tastes of it at least.

Overall, I think the sound effects for TOS were the best of all the series by far. There's the phaser whine, the torpedo sound, the 'bridge background noise', the communicator chirp, 'engine rev' sound, transporter noises, etc. Heck, even the viewscreen made beeps.

I always liked the Defiant's deeper klaxon, but for simple nostalgic reasons, gotta go for the TOS klaxon for Trek XI.

Keep something from Voyager!? :wtf:

:VOMIT:

Great klaxon! Really!

If I don't hear "Gravity is down to .8" when I listen to the bridge noise for the twentieth time I'm boycotting my next twenty viewings.

Actually, Filmation did change it (for the worse) during the run of TAS.
