TOS-R on DVD question

So, season 1 was released as an HD-DVD/DVD hybrid. Seasons 2 & 3 are just DVD. I was lucky enough to get seasons 2 & 3 as a gift, but don't have season 1. Does it *only* exist with the HD-DVD elements (and, therefore, added, expensive discs I can't use?)

Seems like some sort of paradox at play.

Each disc is 2-sided: 1 HD-DVD, 1 standard DVD. AFAIK it is still more expensive than the season 2 and 3 sets. It was insanely expensive when I bought it at Best Buy a year ago, and I would have been better off buying it from Amazon.

The whole release of TOS-R was sent into chaos when HD-DVD went the way of the Dodo. Yes, Season 1 is available on hybrid HD-DVD/Standard DVD only, and the other two as you know, in only Standard DVD... Kind of silly for a project done specifically to brint TOS up to HiDef video quality. I'm looking forward to all TOS-R on BluRay sometime in the coming year.
