TOS Phaser Holster

Well, mine was bought earlier this year, but I have to say, the P1 never comes out.

Thanks for the suggestions, Captain. I will be doing the Velcro patch above the handle.

(I woudn't worry about anything pushing that Phaser I out of the mount, it's quite secure, I just tested it).

What generation release is your phaser? Supposedly the earlier versions of the toy had better quality control than more recent ones; I can vouch that on my white-handled edition, the P1 has a nasty habit of coming unseated at random times.

It's a first generation, and I whipped the thing around while holding only to the Phaser I, and no problem. Haven't tried that with the bronze handled one (mainly because it's buried in storage somewhere).

If you want to be really accurate, you should staple the phaser to the belt. In an interview I heard with James Doohan way back in the '70s, he said that the Velcro ones kept falling off, so they just stapled them onto the belts.

Of course, this doesn't apply if the phaser was going to be drawn in the scene, just when they were walking around with them as part of the uniform.

*Twack*

Don't be a smartass in my threads, boy!

It's a good idea, but I cannot find a good Foam casting. (Nor have I tried to look for that same reason)

I think the idea is you make a mold of your phaser and make your own casting.

Sure, it'll look like a piece of crap compared to the actual phaser, but we're talking stunt copy here, not hero version. ;)

You should make one of those brown "holsters" seen in The Man Trap. I love that look.

Also, be sure to post some pics. :techman:

You know, I liked that look as well. Very "western-y" and cool. Gave the uniforms a little saucy look.

To complete my costume, I need to make a TOS Phaser Holster. The Most common one I have seen is the Brown one. This sticks out like a sore thumb, but it also is the easiest to make. What I am intersted in is what they used to keep the phaser on the belt. It looks like Velcro, but I'm not sure. Any insight would help greatly. Thanks.
I actually have TOS style utllity belt that I bought off of ebay way before Halloween. Its a black one simlar what they wear in the later episodes. Anyways the belt was specailly made, and the holster for the phaser has a little hoop and also velcro to hold the phaser in place. The belt also has a velcro where you hold the comniactor in place. I bought the belt because I want it to go with my TOS style costumes I have. If your lucky you can get the TOS style belt on ebay, mine didnt cost that much. I hope that helps.
