TOS on Television

Are the TOS episodes currently airing on television both on digital or HD channels the originals or are they remastered?

I saw "Where No Man Has Gone Before" on MeToo an over the air digital station and the graphics of the Enterprise and the 'barrier' were extremely good looking. Is it in the original restored format or have they been remastered and tweaked?

Now that's a respectable time slot! TOS should always be treated this way.

You can look at Startrek.com and you'll be able to look at when TOS is run in your neck of the woods. WPIX here in NY runs it at 1:00am Saturday nights. And I think that shit bag station TVLand still airs it at like 6am or something, once a week....but I'm not sure since I've boycotted those bastards.

If you're watching TOS on a "broadcast" or local station, then it's the Remastered version, which is the only version syndicated to local stations.

If you're watching on a cable network then it's most likely the untouched version.

The way Sci-Fi handled Star Trek was nothing short of a disgrace. I can handle some cuts for more commercials, but literally interrupting dialogue to cut away for a commercial!?! Seriously, I'd see Kirk get up about to say something, and that's the moment they'd cut to a frelling commercial break!! I wanted to bitch slap Bonnie Hammer personally for that crap.

Lets remember that commercial television, by it's very definition, has never been interested in content (and its treatment thereof). They exist to sell advertising space, which is what brings in the money (it is business, after all). Whatever gets the casual viewer watching for ten minutes is enough to see them through to the next ad break - does it really matter (to them) if they butcher the content to fit around the ads?

Well, to it's credit, Sci-Fi did show all the episodes uncut via 'Star Trek Special Edition'; but they did break those at odd points for both commecials and commentary; and 90 minutes a whole single episode with that added in was a tad long.

TOS is shown on what was UPN at 1 am EST on Saturday nights/Sunday Morning and at 11 pm EST on Sunday nights. TV Land shows it at 6 am EST on Sundays. Both stations show it remastered.
I wish that TV Land still showed TOS at 6 am EST on weekdays. I used to watch it every morning before I went to school.

Only in your area. A syndicated series plays at different days and times in different markets. When a series is syndicated, it means the studio shops it around to different independent stations all across the country. It could be shown on Saturdays on an NBC affiliate in one area, and Wednesdays on another area's local Fox channel.

TV Land shows it at 6 am EST on Sundays. Both stations show it remastered.

Sure about that? Last I saw, only a few weeks ago, TV Land was still showing the old transfers.

I've sifted through Sky's website, and woe- they're showing like EVERY movie, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT... but no TOS! (that being said, ENT is my next favorite so it's not all bad)

The last time Sky had TOS on they had it listed as remastered but it was still the original episodes. I don't have a Blu-ray or HD DVD player and probably will never buy one so the only way I'm going to get to see the remastered versions is if Sky does eventually show them.

Sadly, I never catch any Episodes of Star Trek (TOS) on, and I am obsessed with my television set. I resort to watching reruns on Youtube, where they have all the episodes at my disposal, bwhaha. I also ordered some on Amazon. Hella expensive though!

They should. Do that to often and ratings fall, and then so do add dollars.

I'd like to see the BBC do exactly that. But if they did, it would undoubtedly be stupid o'clock in the middle of the night.

On second thoughts... screw them, find the cheapest place DVD seller online and be your own TV scheduler! Box sets are a far better than suffering the same 20 minute ad blocks per hour, driving you crazy and interupting Star Trek. I tolerate them during brand new shows, but not for much else.

Space still shows them in their old format; I'd love to see a full remastered episode.
