Well I was a baby, but parents got the first color set in 65 when moving to the Bay Area. And that only happened because the old B&W didn't survive the trip. But I have both picture and old film reels showing me watching TOS by its 2nd season and being completely enthralled by it. Probably due to the music, sound effects and the really bright primary colors. So I blame RCA for my very near life time love of Trek.
We did get a 2nd tv in the early 70's. When we moved to Alaska we got a much larger home, and I would watch the reruns in the basement by myself right after coming home from school.
My parents paid very nearly 800.00. That was a pretty big hit back in the mid 60's.
I got my own tv set for my own room when Alaska started its yearly Permanent Fund Checks. There was no way in hell my parents would ever purchase a tv any of the kids rooms. And I really, really had to drive them nuts before they would even let me use my own money for that.
