TOS newbie....sort of

I just finished disks 1 and 2 of season 3. So far not as good as season 2 but there were some good episodes and some cool characters. I really liked The Tholian Web. Being a niner at heart it was cool to here Kirk say "Defiant".
Also I liked the character of Alexander in Plato's Stepchildren. It would have been interesting to find out what happened to him after they left the planet. Most little people never get to do serious roles, mostly they get stuck with the comedy angle. I thought this was another great example of diversity on the part of the writers.

I just watched Requiem for Methuselah and was kinda excited. Flint is almost like a Highlander style Immortal!! As you can tell I'm a huge fan of that show as well. I think that would make a cool crossover story or fanfic. They could have a flashback with Flint and Methos in ancient Greece or Rome. Cool episode for a Highlander junkie like me.

Yep I just finished season 3 and your right "Turnabout Intruder" was not good. It was so anti-climatic. I'm thinking they had no clue the series was getting the axe so they had no real series finale. Also in that episode, did I hear them correctly that women could not be Starfleet Captains? Or is it just an "old boys club", and women are rarely promoted to Captain?
As a whole season 3 was not nearly as good as season 2. There were some high points, like seeing characters like Surak and Kayless. I had no idea that the ideas of these characters wen t back to the TOS.
I'm still glad I started watching the original though. And I have become a HUGE fan. I can't wait to start season 1 now.

Just finished disk 1 of season 1. So far pretty darn cool. I wished I had watched them slightly out of order and started with "Where No Man Has Gone Before". I'm glad they made the changes they did from that pilot. It was also weird to see Sulu in blue. I really liked the character of Gary Mitchell. To bad he went bat shit crazy!!! I gotta also say I loved the plant in the botany lab in "Charlie X"!!! Seriously awesome cheesiness!!!
