The trail has led to a piece of faulty equipment installed on the ship 15 years prior by a team lead by Montgomery Scott!

"The Wisdom of Omnioras" - The Enterprise beams aboard an individual named Omnioras, who is consider to be the equivalent of the Oracle of Delphi. Despite making a number of accurate predictions for the crew, Spock is skeptical of the perfect accuracy of Omnioras. Upon performing a mind meld, Spock finds out that while Omnioras actually knows nothing of the galaxy he inhabits, Omnioras is carrying the katras of a prominent Vulcan clan that left Vulcan a millennium ago, including a Vulcan female that connects Spock’s family to Surak himself.

Next episode – “The Decadent”

(I posted several minutes two late, but if nobody objects, I'll keep this posted as an accidental novelty.)

THE WISDOM OF OMNIORAS

(Plot similarities to the future TMP intentional yet unavoidable)

A brilliant bored alien (Jon Pertwee) who has infinite time-machine capability raids past times to collect artifacts, valuable items and people. Among his acquisitions are the infamous Russian Rasputin (Tom Baker) and the first 30 issues of Omni.
But when a cosmic storm wipes out most of the alien's old-school biographical records, Spock deduces that the so-called ''Omnioras'' Iis actually TWO entities....one Russian, and one batch of magazines. Scotty claims the set for himself. Since the alien has been buried alive by tons of debris and is beyond help, the crew of the Enterprise must return Rapsutin back to early 20th century Russia. This proves to be even more difficult than killing the historical figure as he outwits the crew at every turn. He likes the ship and wants to remain very badly. Shatner finally prevails by boring Rasputin with a dramatic speech about personal responsibility to history, which puts Rasputin to sleep. Or seems to. The crafty Russian has drugged Chekov, then disguised him as Rasputin. They've beamed Chekov into another world of pain. (Part One of Ten.)

When Kirk as asked why Spock has deceived them, Spock replies that he has not, as a Vulcan beach party means something different from what humans understand it to be; in Vulcan terms, it means landing party prior to an invasion, for the purposes of establishing a beachhead. Kirk, not wanting to accept Spock’s sudden and inexplicable change in behaviour, or that the Vulcans have betrayed Starfleet out of the blue, decides to ignore Starfleet order to return home, goes rogue and investigate on his own. "The Endless Antechamber"- Sent to Blatellia on a first contact mission, Kirk and his landing party find themselves mired in the Kafkaesque bureaucracy of that world. The Byzantine rules and regulations, where one step forward can send you two steps back, pushes even the vaunted Vulcan patience of Spock to the limit.

Next Episode- "Red Headed Step Child"

"Red Headed Step Child" - Enterprise rendezvouses with the Crovenites, a race of aliens that are breaking ties with the Bloc of Reangi (itself a Federation of sorts) and wish to ally with the Federation. The Federation are not interested in the Crovenites, given their non-strategic position relative to enemies, their policies, political differences, etc, but the Bloc doesn't particularly care if the Crovenites leave them, for similar reasons...at least not until they choose the Federation. Then they declare war, firing on the Enterprise. Kirk, initially planning to break the "we're not interested" message to the Crovenites, realizes that they will ally with someone, if not us, not being strong enough to survive independently, and that alone makes them important. Basically, two dogs fighting over a bone neither wants until the other one might get it.

*I just happened to be listening to that song by Paul McCartney as I type this. :)

"Hope of Deliverance" - After rescuing survivors from a Starfleet ship that was in battle with the Klingons, the Enterprise makes its way to Starbase 5. McCoy, Uhura, Scotty, and Chekov each find a survivor that grows attached to them. When the Klingon commander that attacked the previous Starfleet ship intercepts the Enterprise, several Klingons beam aboard and take a couple of the survivors hostage. McCoy, Uhura, Scotty and Chekov each try to convince Kirk to not engage the Klingon commander in phaser fight on the ship, despite Kirk’s fears that the hostage situation is spinning rapidly out of control.

Next episode - “Robbing Peter To Pay Paul”

"Robbing Peter To Pay Paul" - The Enterprise is sent to the Delta Simplex region to investigate the Klingon interest in the stellar group. The Klingons are investing heavily in industrialization on the main planet. Orion prospectors have sold a small fortune in dilithium mined in the area, and the involvement of several local powers has gotten the attention and involvement of the Klingons. Spock is puzzled, because none of the star systems in the stellar group have any of the standard indicators of dilithium-rich planets. This is cause for concern, as it could indicate the potential for an economic shift across the quadrant that could threaten Federation economic stability. Kirk and Spock infiltrate the mining operation. They are temporarily captured, almost permanently, but they overpower their captors and escape with the crucial information: it's a Ponzi scheme. The Simplexians have been using the investments of foreign powers to pay off earlier investors. They paid the Orions good returns, and they will pay other investors with the supplies fronted by the Klingons. But they will not be able to pay the Klingons back, and that will trigger the absorption of the stellar group into the Klingon Empire. Whether the leadership deserves to be held accountable is subordinate to the reality that the Federation cannot tolerate the expansion of the Empire, the suffering of the innocent, or the potential for a widening war. Kirk must figure out a solution that will keep the Klingons in the dark, and defuse the situation. The answer is Federation dilithium, which will be presented as the last available on the planet. They will open the mines to the Klingons so that they will see that no more minerals are present. In return, Federation ports will be established in the stellar group.

Next episode: "Miri's World"

"Miri's World" - When Kirk follows up on the status of Miri and the Onlies, he finds that Miri and the Onlies are in charge – rather than teach and look after the children, the teacher, advisors and truant officers opted to build a world based around fun, as understand by Earth. Meanwhile, the medical officers have become part of a new generation of Grups, led by Jahn, who has contracted a mutated version of the disease. As McCoy works on a new vaccines for the virus, Kirk must entertain Miri, who is overly worried about what will happen to Jahn.

"All The Queen's Horses"- The Enterprise travels to Avalon II, a primitive planet very similar to Earth's middle ages. A Starfleet scientist has been captured and put on trial for witchcraft, so Kirk has been sent to disguise himself as a visiting noble and defend her. After convincing them that the witchcraft was actually the action of an evil computer, the natives are thrilled that they insist Kirk stay for a while. Whilst on the planet, Kirk falls in love with the scientist he was sent to protect. Unfortunately, she falls off a wall at the end of the episode. Kirk returns to the Enterprise sadly.

Next Episode- "The Magistrate of Zebulon"

"The Magistrate of Zebulon"- On the newly contacted world of Zebulon the Enterprise crew has found a well ordered and structured society. Spock is, in his own Vulcan way, very impressed by this. McCoy on the other hand is highly critical and suspicious. And of course is highly vocal in his opinions. Kirk enters negotiations with the planet's leader Magistrate Zindah, but she only seems to have eyes for Spock. The two spend time together discussing science and logic. McCoy kids him about "courting" Zindah, Spock of course takes it in stride and even gives McCoy a comeback or two, himself. McCoy is still perplexed by the society's clock-work precision in all they do. During one of their discussion Zindah seems to faulter. As she does all the Zebulonites seem to stop as well. McCoy is called in but they discover Zindah and all the Zebulonites are androids. Zindah is their "CPU" and is breaking down. Spock and Scott try to save her but the technology is beyond their ken. The world slowly grinds to a stop. As the Enterprise leaves the dead world, McCoy tries to engage Spock in some banter, but Spock ignores him.

In this episode, the Enterprise receives a distress call from a nearby planet that is experiencing severe seismic activity. The Shalmarans, led by their leader Nara, explain that their society is facing a crisis as their planet's stability is being threatened by a rogue group of rebels who are determined to shake the pillars of heaven and destroy their civilization. They plead for the Enterprise's help in stopping the rebels and restoring balance to their planet.

OK. Confession, I asked an AI to write this. LOL

They plead for the Enterprise's help in stopping the rebels and restoring balance to their planet.

Captain Kirk and his team, along with the help of the Shalmarans, devise a plan to stop the rebels and prevent the destruction of the planet. However, they soon discover that the rebels have a powerful weapon that can cause devastating seismic activity, and they must race against time to stop them before it's too late.

Meanwhile, Spock and Dr. McCoy become intrigued by the Shalmarans' advanced technology and culture, and they learn more about their unique abilities to control the planet's movements. As they work together to stop the rebels, they also gain a deeper understanding and respect for the Shalmarans.

In a thrilling climax, the Enterprise and the Shalmarans successfully stop the rebels and restore balance to the planet. Nara and her people are grateful to the crew and bid them farewell, with a promise to continue their peaceful ways and not to 'shake the pillars of heaven' again. As the Enterprise leaves, the crew reflects on the power of nature and the importance of respecting it.
