TOS effects:TOS-R VS STP2

\Maybe this should be not be a separate thread....
Which effects are closer to that of TOS, the Remastered version or those done in Star trek Phase II and similar fan films?

The effects in Phase II to me don't jar with the live action as much, put it like that.

The camera takes you from an interior shot to an exterior one and you don't get that same feeling of "Oh, CGI!".

Phase 2, depite virtually the same sets, music, sound etc as TOS, blends perfectly with the CG. TOS-R does not - but that's probably because of the direction and timing more than anything else.

IMO, the recent Phase 2 episodes ("World Enough..." onwards) have superior CG than TOS-R. The lighting in particular is far superior to some of the weaker TOS-R shots.

Compare the Romulan ship in "Balance of Terror" to the brilliant updated version in "World Enough and Time". I think that sums up the whole argument.

Of course, if you include the early New Voyages CG, TOS-R's consistancy gives it the win.

The fan film with effects most true to original TOS is probably the first Starship Exeter film.

Therin has a good point, let us limit it to TOS-R and episode 2 or 3(WORLD ENOUGH AND TIME) of STP2 onward.

Well, Dennis may not be willing to give himself the credit he deserves... but there is nothing stopping me. :D The effects of Exeter TTI are about as faithful to the original series look and feel of any effects... well, since the original series.

And this is what I mean by that...

The point of TTI was to feel like an episode of TOS... and it does just that! :techman:

I think the Exeter series is unsupassed in its TOS-ness.

Still waiting for that final section!
