TOS Diorama

Gojirob

Note to Mods : I posted two pics today in GTVM, and I intend to post three here. If they exceed any existing limits, let me know, and I apologize in advance.

A while back, when my store was selling the Dawson's Creek soundtrack, the promo was inside a TV-looking box, which I grabbed. At first, the figures were all from the Playmates TOS set, as is the Bridge background. As Hallmark has released their TOS characters, I have slowly but surely replaced them, with hopefully Scotty, Sulu and Chekov to follow someday. Its far from a true TV-view, but I like it so far. Sulu and Chekov are standing behind the Mego Bridge console, modded a bit.

Also, if you changed the name on the TV set to an RCA, that'd be a cool throwback to the 60s and how Trek was advertised as being in "living color" and the reason to buy RCA color sets.

Aside from the fact Uhura is not at the same scale as the others, this is actually pretty good. :bolian:
It's a shame you had to wreck the McCoy ornament to make it fit in with the scene, however.

I was disappointed in her scale as well. My guess is, it had been a while since the last TOSer Hallmark was made, and someone didn't check. Uhura gets dissed all over the place. I mean, when the Barbie set was made, no African-American version?

As to McCoy, it was a needed sacrifice. I'd feel differently if they all came with transporter trappings. That would be one hell of a diorama, and yes, I know about the PM ones.

Here's hoping Hallmark do Chekov and Sulu at the Helm together.

Thank You all. Besides being a fan, I feel a kinship with the show, since it was 9/8/66, and I'm 8/15/66. I can't say I was among the very 1st set of fans, but I prolly was among the first set of syndie-bred fans, and re-creating the look of the show on an old-school TV is kind of a labor of love.

I haven't done as many ST customs as I'd like. Before Hallmark and Furuta brought out their TNG-Alt. Future AGT E-D, I customed one from two Galoob E-D's. That one I sent to my fanzine/fic editor in Georgia.

I write for his series which features Chekov as the Captain of the E-B, with Saavik as XO and Kirk's nephew Peter as Chief Science. Maybe I'll mod some PM figures for a senior crew shot, one of these days. I did do a model of a space monster that an AU TOS crew faces down, a variant of Toho's King Ghidorah.

Though not as cool looking as Gojirob's, here's something I did one night during a bout with insomnia.

The bridge section is from an old AMT model...I took pieces from two models to build a bridge with all of the stations/etc., so I had leftover parts. I put it on our table at cons and stuff, just to watch the reactions from people. :D

That's so cool!

That is cool. Its funny about those old model kits. The Aurora Polar Lights kits with glow-in-the dark used to frustrate me because you could make all-no-glow, but never all-glow.
