I'm glad I waited a few extra days before changing out the caption contest. We have two themes running through this week's post, neither of which were fully developed last weekend.

The winners last week are all on one theme.

This next week's contest pictures all take us to Triskelion. I have to thank Sir Rhosis for his contribution to this contest. He emailed me a picture I had to share. I'd already saved the two other screen caps a while ago, waiting for the right time to use them. Well, now is the time.

About the last picture, Sir Rhosis wrote, "The photo is of legendary Science Fiction author Frederik Pohl, Angelique Pettyjohn and Gene Roddenberry, all around little 'Hugo.' I scanned it from Pohl's memoir, The Way The Future Was, which accounts for some of the grain. Pohl relates that at the 1967 World Con in Los Angeles, both Roddenberry and he were presented with their 1966 Hugos (Pohl for best SF magazine editor, GR for "The Menagerie"). GR invited him to visit the Star Trek set. Looks like Pohl enjoyed himself." He continued that Pohl didn't know Pettyjohn's name and simply labelled her as "unidentified flying alien" in his memoir. He also reminded me how Pettyjohn had slipped into performing porn late in her career. This photo seems prescient that way. Finally, Sir Rhosis said, "Funny that the chain-smoking Pohl, the oldest of the three, is the only one still alive, still puffing and writing away at age 88."
