Torment of Destiny: Workprint

Both in NV and STC, Kirk is a very flaccid, un-Kirk like character. He rarely makes an decisions or those decisions are made for him by others. These fan films never have Kirk drive the action and treat him more like a Picard, having conferences and seeking a consensus of his senior officers.

That being said, Brian Gross may look the part but he sure doesn't own the part. He has no presence in the role at all. I don't buy him as Kirk, much less the lead of the show.
Natira
was not James Cawley's character to do whatever he wanted to. I felt the character should be handled differently and even if the lame story had to go in a certain direction I want my heroes to at least try to prevent it. I know some TOS writers returned to helm NV's fanfilms, its possible the creator of the original story made this uncalled for sequel and made that decision. Just seems wrong to go there just to go there, I wanted to event to be more organic and it wasn't.

If you're complaining about certain characters not being the property of the folks making these episodes, why are you even watching fan films, other than looking for things to complain about?
How about arguing WHAT your fellow member said, rather than being all passive aggressive?

Virtually none of the characters are his, so why should this one be any different?
He's not killing the other TOS characters, I felt killing her off didn't push the narrative or created weight where our heroes may share her fate.
If I had the opportunity to use these characters I would use kid gloves on how I would handle them; always looking for scenarios which would ring true to what was already developed.
I guess making an unwarranted sequel would lead to what was done by people who lack vision; her death IMO didn't make much of an impact and doesn't shift the course of the fanfilm's conclusion.

¡¿Why did you Spoiler the character name to just reveal what happens in the story?!

Sometimes...

Hi, did anybody manage to grap a copy of this ? I know a fan in Australia downloaded it but he has been talked in to not posting on the 'net' as it may one day be finished. This seems highly unlikely to me as the episode requires "Hundreds" of video effect to be added and a new music/soundtrack to be done. Most of the effects people who were involved in this work in the film industry so they would not put in jeopardy their jobs just to finish this fan film. Also James Cawley does not seem motivated to finish this (and Bread and Savagery) at all. As I did not get to see this rough cut would anybody oit there be able to either post a copy of put it on a download site ?

Was thinking about Richard Hatch today, and wondering if this workprint is still "out there" in some fashion... James being James, bless him, I'm far from certain it is ever going to be polished and released.

Don't suppose this has turned up anywhere has it? I never saw it back then and been hoping it would have reappeared by now

I second that!
I watched about 5 minutes of it one day and by the time I'd come back to watch the rest it had been taken down again

It's reappeared.

It's also available again from the link in the original post. The link is unlisted and has to be played from YouTube since the embed is disabled. This is better than watching with a logo. I'd like a copy of "The Protracted Man" without a logo, too. Putting logos on anything you didn't make is narcissistic and obnoxious. Anyway, I downloaded copies of both of these and suggest everyone do the same.

Nice one. Thanks. And yes I too got them both. Hopefully Bread and Savagery will turn up too at some point.

Have you seen the amusing "Bread and Savagery" rehearsal footage that's on YouTube? I'd also like to see Borg Q-Uest, the unreleased live action VHS boardgame starring John de Lancie as Q. Only a single frame (used for the "Q The Referee" card in the Star Trek Customizable Card Game) has ever been seen by the public. I was going to also mention Yorktown: A Time to Heal, but I just saw that it was finally completed and released after almost four decades last year.
