Torchwood/Who/SJ cross-references

I've been re-watching all the modern stuff, including Torchwood and Sarah Jane. Well, I haven't actually gotten to Sarah Jane yet, but I'm going to.

I prefer to intermix the shows as much as possible. Obviously, the original airing times were somewhat spaced apart, so going by original air date doesn't really allow that. However, I would like to avoid any references to future events popping up.

I just finished Who season 3. I watched Torchwood season 1 mixed in with it, cheating it ahead a couple of episodes here and there so that "End of Days" was watched just before "Utopia". Now I need to figure out the ordering for the next bunch: Torchwood 2, Who 4, and Sarah Jane 1.

By OAD, Sarah Jane comes first, then Torchwood, then Who. It's actually remarkably linear except for "Voyage of the Damned" being thrown in between SJ and TW. But if possible, I'd like to mingle the three a bit in viewing order.

I've already figured out that I have to finish "A Day In The Death" before getting to "The Sontaran Strategem", but I haven't watched any of this stuff since it first aired, so I don't remember if there were any other things I need to worry about ordering correctly. Other than finishing TW2 and SJ1 before "The Stolen Earth", obviously.

Any advice?

I don't remember any cross-pollenation that either 1) you've already mentioned or 2) wouldn't affect the watch-through.

This thread reminds me I really need to update my present-day Who timeline; it only goes up to DW Season 4, TW Season 2, and SJA Season 1.

What I'm most worried about is offhand references to things from one of the other shows. I know "Turn Left" had a few; I'm not sure if any of the others did.

I don't think there are any-- at least none I caught! Torchwood Season 2 and Sarah Jane Season 1 both take place in Fall 2008 (mostly) by my reckoning, sort of intermingling. Here's my old timeline:

I think I'd shove some of the months around (especially in 2008), but the sequence should be pretty right. Sarah Jane Adventures Season 2 goes in Fall 2009, with Season 3 in Spring 2010, I'd assume, or maybe crammed into the same fall; there's probably enough time. Children of Earth is September 2009. "Planet of the Dead" is April 2010 (maybe April 2009 if you squeeze).

Other than finishing TW2 and SJ1 before "The Stolen Earth", obviously.

Actually, I'd recommend before "Turn Left", since Turn Left leads directly into Stolen Earth. Or at the very least SJ1, anyway. (I'm not sure whether you've watched SJ1 before so I don't want to get more specific.)

For the record: SJA "Eye of the Gorgon" contains a reference to Sontarans, which probably works better before DW "The Sontaran Stratagem".

SJA "Mona Lisa's Revenge" must come after DW "Planet of the Dead".

The order I've come up with that seems to work well is:
Invasion of the Bane
TW2 Episode 1
Voyage of the Damned
TW2 Episode 2
SJA1 Episode 1
TW2 Episode 3
DW4 Episode 1
TW2 Episode 4

etc, back and forth so that TW2 shows up twice as often as DW4 or SJA 1. This gets you past "A Day In the Death" prior to "The Sontaran Stratagem".

Then, finish up DW4 once the others are done; then all of SJA2, then The Next Doctor, then Children of Earth, then Planet of the Dead, then all of SJA3, then The Waters of Mars/The End of Time.

The only thing I'm not really sure about yet is whether The Waters of Mars should come before The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith. On the one hand the two aren't really related; but it's kind of nice to think that "Wedding" takes place during the time the Doctor was stalling on his visit to the Ood.
