Torchwood series 4 details

In Memoriam
Series 4 has a name, it's called Torchwood: New World, and the righting staff have been announced. Doris Egan, Jane Espenson, John Shiban and John Fay, along with Russell T Davies.

From io9.com

Torchwood: The New World focuses on Rex and Ester, a CIA agent and analyst who require the help of Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper with a yet-to-be-explained alien conundrum. Davies also noted that this self-contained, ten-episode arc could take advantage of premium cable's license for violence and licentiousness

I like the title. makes sense within the context of the new status quo for the organization. Will be interesting to see who is cast to play the new characters.

Am worried about TW becoming less and less british, after CoE I hope this doesn't fall flat.

Good to see Jane Espenson writing an episode. John Shiban's pretty decent too. :techman:

From Digital Spy

Russell T. Davies has revealed that the new season of Torchwood will feel more "global".

Davies explained that Torchwood: The New World, which is being made with the US cable network Starz, will be set in a number of locations.

According to Zap2It, he said: "It has this global sweep to it which is justified by the story. I hate to say 'international in scope' because it usually means a scene set in Berlin for no reason."

However, the show's executive producer Julie Gardner promised that Wales will still be a big part of the series.

"The Welsh setting still features in a really significant way as we move forwards so when we start filming in January, we will start filming in Wales," she said. "There will be beautiful landscapes. Gwen Cooper [Eve Myles] is still that character. She's still Welsh. Her story will take place in the US but also very much in the UK, so that flavour of Wales will be very apparent."

Glad to hear Wales will still be a big part of the show and they won't just be abandoning the British elements now.
Russell T Davis has also said he very much wants to keep humour to the show despite it being very dark, which I'm also glad of.

I don't want to watch because Ianto isn't in it... sorry, that was the 16 year old fangirl in me talking there. I'm looking forward to it. It seems intriguing with the new American writers on board.

Ianto was the man and shall be missed.

I like all the writers announced, except John Fay because I can't think who he is, but he worked on Children of Earth so that should be good.

I'll give RTD points if he includes some dialogue whereby someone says or implies Wales/Cardiff is in England and Gwen gets really irritated by it. It would be very true to life :)

Suppose it'd be too much to hope for Gwentits.
