Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Wow did no one watch this tonight?

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

I generally DVR it, will watch it tomorrow at some point I'm sure.

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Well that came out of left field. Pretty messed up, although she HAD to just keep egging him on. At first I thought this was a plan of hers (bold one if that) to get into the module, and if it was which I highly doubt, sure backfired on her. Too bad, she was pretty hot. Now in more ways than one!

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Well the modules were either incinerators or space bridges. That much was clear from when we first heard about the over flow camps and we the audience started being reminded about the Nazi's final solution to the Jewish question.

Okay.

Jack dying will reverse the miracle and make him immortal again.

All Jesus metaphor and shit.

Does jack want to be immortal?

A heroic sacrifice?

Doesn't that mean that if he had died of poison on that plane, the miracle would have been reversed in the second episode.

Gwen fucked up.

When I saw the modules I began to think about the genesis ark and Time Lord transcendental technology... Did the Timelords have overpopulation issues too once their populations stopped expiring?

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

I liked this week, but something still seems off to me. Not sure what it is.

Interesting way to end the episode. I'm not sure if I like the move for being so bold, or if I hate it for eliminating one of the better characters and actresses.
I think I would have preferred Rex to be inside and have her being the one witnessing it.

Time Lords weren't immortal just long lived as a number of races on Dr. who are.

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Wow, those Overflow camps are seriously disturbing, very well done.

I too wish it was Rex in the Module, not Vera, really sorry to lose her character

I'm really enjoying this series, but, I really hope Starz isn't afraid of using aliens in Torchwood, it'll be disappointing to me if it's just Phicorp being profit motivated

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Well they did say there was "someone" above Phicorp.

THIS. Now we have to deal with mopey Rex...

Edited to add.

Weren't they supposed to have solved the "mystery" of Miracle Day...? Wouldn't that mystery be how did it happen? And not what they are doing with all the bodies?

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Maybe the new baddies, the 789s, get "high" by inhaling the burning humans?

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Did Not See That Coming.

Really effective setup of the overflow camps. And Gwen's dad... :(

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

The story has truly kicked into high gear. Very much bummed about Vera, though. :( But I had a feeling this would happen since Arlene Tur's name wasn't in the main credits. Interesting to see the chinks in Jilly's armor getting bigger (hopefully she'll become more unhinged as a story progresses). Very emotional stuff with Gwen's dad.

Excellent episode.

Weren't they supposed to have solved the "mystery" of Miracle Day...?

Since we're only halfway through the story I would assume that's something we'll learn in episode 10, right?

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

I liked this week, but something still seems off to me. Not sure what it is.

Other than the basic premise, the sci-fi has been almost non-existent. Jack has not used his wrist thing to transport anywhere, no aliens, no space ships, no ray guns, no sonic screwdrivers, no hands in jars. Just drama, one building bigger on the inside, and Jack saying one line things sometimes to confuse Rex, but that's about it. I like it.

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Well, the hand in jar is living in a parallel universe with the hands girlfriend (probably now wife) Rose.

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

I dunno, an entire episode just to find out they are burning bodies (which is very cliche for this sorta thing) kinda seems like a waste of an episode. Seems like more should have been going on in the episode, the entire 5th episode is just about the fact that they are burning bodies, it probably doesn't even fit into what's going on at all, it's just a thing to show how evil governments can be or something, probably doesn't even relate to the story. If it does, I'll eat my words, but at this point, seems like a filler episode, which is not good when you only have 10 episodes to show.

If the motivation turns out to be the company just doing this for money, or fame, or control, I will be extremely disappointed in this season.

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Now that's more like it. After four episodes of wasting time Torchwood finally gets down to business and it is awesome. Not quite Children of Earth quality, but expecting something of that level of quality again is just begging to be disappointed. I'm even beginning to like Rex.

Re: Torchwood: MD 4x05 - The Categories Of Life (Grade/Discuss) SPOILE

Sorry, I really want to like it but I was just falling asleep. More talkiness and not enough action (well, until the end).

As for the final revelation... I just can't believe that would actually happen.

As for the whole Oswald speech thing... I'm sorry I just find that whole storyline ridiculous, and he's really, really, really annoying. One of the main reasons I continue to watch is the hope that he'll eventually die a really, nasty, death.

I'm afraid that so far it's a major disappointment, and nobody is more surprised at that than me.
