Torchwood III vs. In the Loop. (Spoilers)

Guy Gardener

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Peter Capaldi.

God in heaven he works both scripts beautifully, but can you imagine John Frobisher saying that he was going to break both some ones legs, remove their shins and stab them in the kidneys with them shin bones?

I don't have to.

Both stories, one a movie about Peters character as the Prime minister director of Communications, which sounds like a pseudonym for "Chief Whip" during the final lead up to the Iraq War, and the other the liason to Torchwood forced to play well out of his wheel house as everythinig spins seriously out of control in downing street...

Basically the same job with the same actor but completely different characters.

I'm not sure if I have a point.

but it was really samey apart from the constant swears, and it would have been fascinating to switch the characters between productions, since we had the same actor on call.

:)

Don't know if you're aware of this, but in case not, In The Loop is a spinoff from The Thick of It, a TV series based around Capaldi's Malcolm Tucker character, which has been running intermittently for a couple of years now. There'll be another series later this year.
A lot of the other Loop actors also appear in the series, but not always in the same roles.

Thanks.

There was an odd resonance, i do remember watching the show, and liking it, but not the name, but the entire run was 6 episodes and three specials (I've queued up the links on my jdownloader, so that should be under way and finished after season 22 of Doctor Who.) so it's amazing that I recall it at all even after prompting, since these things are hardly ever repeated.

Scary, there was an American pilot made for The Thick of it.

It effectively got paused, with the specials filling in, when the actor playing the minister got into legal and tabloid troubles (which have pretty much ended his career).
The new run's been promoted from BBC4 to BBC2 (a bit like Torchwood), and will be longer, with Rebecca Front as the new minister.

If you're watching it, check you get all the specials: there should be two 60-minuters, plus a shorter one about what the opposition party were up to at the same time.

I bought The Thick of It solely because of Peter Capaldi's involvement. Best buy I've made in a long, long time.

I'd love to see the 456 take on Malcolm Tucker.

Have just watched in the thick of it, the rise of the nutters ' Spinners and Losers and opposition extra on you tube and i love it.:techman:
After seeing a trailer for in the loop i really want to watch that.
