1. Susan-always nice to see her..
2. Tegan-I always liked her for some reason.. she was especially nice in Enlightenment..
3. Frobisher!! ashape changer stuck as a talking penguin, absolutely Matt smith like! easily done with animatronics, ask the henson company based there in the uk, after all they did farscape...

who didn't fancy Ace?
Can't say she does much for me.

Right, so. Three. Um...well, Nicola Bryant still looks the business, so she's one. My other favourite companions are Jamie and Liz Shaw. I have to say though, I think there's be potential in Mel showing up again. Perhaps the Doctor could rescue her after Sabalom Glitz sells her into space-prostitution. Only, they'll call her a space-kissogram or something. Susan's the other one who might be worth seeing.

I'll go for Peri, Jamie, and Mel.

Actually, now I think of it, Grace Holloway would be good too. And Benny Summerfied maybe. But I've voted now.

You have to be the single Doctor Who fan in existence who wants to see Mel again... :p

I voted for Susan / Peri / Ace, and all three for the same reason: Unfinished stories. Who is Susan? How is Peri? Whatever happened to Ace? These are the stories I'd love to see explored, purely from a Fan perspective. I would love it if the BBC started doing Direct-to-BluRay adventures of past Doctors ala' Big Finish-style. I'd love to see McGann's Doc visit all three of these ladies (yes, I know he's met Susan in the audios)... :techman:

Actually, I wouldn't at all mind seeing Mel again. Sure, she's got a pretty screechy scream, but aside from that, I really like her. Of course, part of what's endeared her to me is Big Finish.

With the way Mel left, there's potential for her to be a very changed character in an interesting way. Though not necessarily a space-whore.

That leaves Ace, and we don't have any idea what happened to her.

No idea what happened to her officially, anyway. IIRC, there have been tons of different expanded universe stories about what happened to her.

Dodo apparently isn't liked by anybody (I liked her well enough in her half-story War Games)

You're thinking of "The War Machines." "The War Games" was the final Patrick Troughton story with Jamie & Zoe.

I would love to see Evelyn Smythe, Iris Wildthyme, and Frobisher... (yes, I've become a Big Finish junkie, LOL)

I like Evelyn Smythe but she's not high on my list. However, I'd love to see official screen appearances by Frobisher & Iris Wildthyme!:techman:

I've got some ideas for bringing back Jamie as the new chief of the McCrimmon clan.

There's a lot of potential for bringing back Romana. Personally, I'd prefer Lalla Ward but it wouldn't be out of the question for her to be in a new regeneration. (I think I heard somewhere that Rachel Weisz is a fan of the show.)

From a fanboy perspective, Susan Foreman presents the most unanswered questions.

As an exercise in pure nostalgia, I think one of the next companions should be the granddaughter of Ian Chesterton & Barbara Wright. Sadly, Barbara is no longer with us but they could still work in a cameo for Chesterton. (I think it would be funny if, even in a younger, less senile body, the Doctor still has problems getting Chesterton's name right.)

Zoe would be fun.

The Brigadier & Liz Shaw simply must come back for a future UNIT story.

For a new series return, I'd like to see Doctor Who pursue the early years of Captain Jack Harkness, before he lost his memory & quit the Time Agency.

Ultimately, it's a tough call. I could vote for almost any of them. I think I ended up voting for Ian, Jamie, & Romana II. But if I had to do it over again, I'd probably replace Romana with one of the Big Finish companions like Iris Wildthyme or Frobisher.

I also picked Grace Halloway since we only got to see her once. Hmmm, maybe should could appear in the new Torchwood.

I think she's mired in some funky rights issues between the BBC, FOX, & Universal. That's the reason why she's never showed up in any of the Big Finish audios or 8th Doctor novels.

^ Geeze, the rights/legal issues around the TVM are so unfortunate and stink to high hell.

Personally, I would love to see Susan return, but really only if Carol Ann Ford played her.

I know theories and rumors abound about who she really was/is.. If she had been a Time Lord and the Doctor was truely her grandfather, then it could be explained that she simply has lived a peaceful life somewhere and never needed/wanted to regenerate and has aged. We know that Time Lords do age, so this explination is completely conceivable.

However, I kind of suspect that somewhere along the line, the Doctor, in his first incarnation, "adopted" her as a child somewhere along in his travels and took care of her until she left (the circumstances of which I don't recall).

The third (and less popular of my own opinions) is that "the woman" who appeared with the Time Lords in Tennant's last episodes, rather than being his mother or Romana, was in fact, Susan - obviously played by a different actress after regenerating somewhere along the line.

Regarding Susan and Ace, my idea has always been:

The crafty 7th Doctor foresaw signs of the coming Time War and took steps to protect his only living relative, his granddaughter Susan. Training Dorothy "Ace" McShane during their travels, he fashioned his greatest pupil into the perfect protector, the perfect bodyguard. And when it was time, he left her with an older Susan, to keep her safe while he went on to face the coming darkness.

Thus, you could have a two-in-one reappearance story. And if President Romana II / III found an escape path back into E-Space (probably with a consortium of guards and royal what-nots) before Rassilon regained power, who is to say she did not take her K-9, Susan, Ace, Leela, her K-9, and any children along with her? ;)

It all sounds a bit anoraky, though, doesn't it? ;)

Totally! In the most fanwank way, of course. But, then again, it is what it's meant to be. A celebration of those characters and their place in the classic mythology the series. I believe the modern era serves the new era well enough to allow the burden of a one-off story tied into the Classic era mythology. It's only bad if that's the norm... ;)

Tegan

Jamie

Zoe

In that order. Be nice to see Romana II again but really I think a regeneration is the best way to go with either her or Susan.
