Hi, everyone! I'm a new member here and I'm also a new Star Trek fan. I've watched a handful of the eppies online at Star Trek's website ("Space Seed", "The Menagerie Parts 1 & 2", and "The Man Trap").

I did a search on the forums to see if anyone had posted a list of their Top Ten favorites and couldn't find one, so forgive me if I'm being repetitive and trying to redo a thread that's already been done. If this has already been done, let me know.

I've ordered the series on DVD and they should be here in the next day or so. I'm just wondering if anyone could give me, or any other newbies out there, a sort of Top Ten list of must-see episodes.

My top 10:

Balance of Terror
The Galileo Seven
The Menagerie I & II
Space Seed
The Devil in the Dark
Amok Time
Mirror, Mirror
Journey to Babel
A Piece of the Action
City on the Edge of Forever

In no particular order:

Amok Time
Balance Of Terror (Was inspired by the submarine move, "Run Silent, Run Deep")
Shore Leave
Naked Time
The Menagerie (Two part series, was originally the pilot, if I recall)
Trouble With Tribbles (DS9 Link)
A Private Little War
The Doomsday Machine
The Ultimate Computer
Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (Borrows from "The Most Dangerous Game")

Runner Up: "Metamorphosis" (First Contact Link)

Oh, dang. I forgot Tribbles! And I loved that episode!! :brickwall:

Ah it's okay. I could make a top twenty list, and still I'd feel bad about leaving a couple out. :techman:

Loved trouble with tribbles, not just because of the tribbles, or when Scotty goes nuts because the Klingons insulted the Enterprise, but mainly because Kirk owns the agricultural bureaucrat time and time again.

"Captain, you've been taking this mission far too lightly."

"On the contrary Sir, I take this mission very seriously.... It is YOU I take lightly."

Owned.

A Taste of Armageddon
The Omega Glory
The Ultimate Computer
Where No Man Has Gone Before
Spectre of the Gun
Bread and Circuses
City on the Edge of Forever
The Doomsday Machine
Mirror, Mirror
Amok Time

But my list constantly changes. I'd have an easier time figuring out which one of my kids is my favorite.

Yeah, no kidding. All of those episodes are worthy of consideration in a top list.

Surprised nobody mentioned "I, Mudd" or "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" or even, "Miri"

...You see what I'm saying? Somebody needs to start a thread like "Episodes we really didn't like a whole lot" That might be easier to come up with a list about something like that.

In no real order:

The Doomsday Machine
Balance of Terror
The Trouble With Tribbles
Jorney to Babel
Amok Time
The Ultimate Computer
I, Mudd
Errand of Mercy
The Corbomite Maneuver
Court Martial

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I can't wait to see the "Tribbles" episode. I've never seen it but I'm familiar with it and from what I understand its a classic and probably one of the most well-known eppies of the series. I've heard a lot about "I, Mudd" as well. "Mirror, Mirror" is what kinda started the whole "alternate universe" thing that's common in science fiction today, didn't it? As a big comic book fan, I love that kinda stuff. But someone told me that "Mirror, Mirror" is what started the whole alternate reality angle.

LOL! That might be easier at that. Maybe I should ask for a list of 10 episodes to stay away from :-P

Nope. Mirror, Mirror is a popular example, but parallel and alternate universe stories were around before TOS did it. It's A Wonderful Life is a good example.

The Trouble With Tribbles
Amok Time
Miri
The Lights Of Zetar
This Side Of Paradise(also one of my least favorites)
Mudd's Women(Kudos to Kirk for not kissing the "drugged" girl)
Mirror, Mirror
Space Seed
The Immunity Syndrome
Charlie X(also one of my least favorites)

Well, I've done a 'Top 10', I might as well at least do a 'Bottom 10', of the ones I like the least, or dislike altogether.

Charlie X

And The Children Shall Lead Them

The Way To Eden

Spock's Brain (To be fair, 3rd season had slim pickings in terms of favorites)

Court Martial (Feel like I'm watching a sci-fi version of
Matlock)

Catspaw

Mudd's Women

The Omega Glory (I did like the concept)

The Changeling

The Paradise Syndrome (A little too cheesy)
