Did anybody here watch it; is it terrible, tolerable or even entertaining and how does it compare to the original?

It's going a long way to once again inducing cultural cringe amongst Australians - it's a tad on the ocker side.

Chemistry between the hosts is somewhere between neglible and none existsny but that could take time to settle.

Last nights was an improvement on the first episode quality wise though barely (the new Ford GT in right hand drive, two locally made performance vehicles against either, a dump truck challenge for 4WDs and using a Merc Smart Car as a hearse).

Ratings from the first ep were done nearly 25% (we're talking Broken Bow to Fight or Flight here) after just failling to crack the million mark.

SBS is hoping to get a second series but not if the ratings don't improve.

Apart from the hosts not working well (more ad lib/less script) is we just don't get the range of cars here that can really sustain the show.

I haven't seen the second ep yet, but I didn't care much for the pilot. Now I wasn't expecting it to be as good or as funny as the original... but it still felt very lacking. I will keep watching it though, hopefully it'll improve.

I thought TG Oz was OK. The fact that it's a total clone of the original is a double edged sword - it has the same format that we know and love, but adds nothing original. So therefore it lives or dies on the chemistry of the presenters. And in that regard, it cannot compete with the original, IMO.

I love Charlie Cox (he's the best commentator MotoGP has had for years - him and Steve Parrish are a great double act), but the other two guys could have been anybody.

Clarkson, May and Hamster are still the kings.

:D

But Charlies Cox cannot commentate the track laps - there are massive pauses and it makes the laps drag on and on!

^ Have you noticed how it often happens that the guests themselves commentate on the track laps? ;)
