To be fair although the order has changed somewhat 8 of those top 10 were in the top 10 when DWM did the top 200 DW stories a few years back. New entries are "Day of the Doctor" (not released at that point) and "Remebrance of the Daleks", which came in at number 14. they were for the record

1.>Caves ....
2.>Blink
3.>Genesis ....
4.>The Talons of Weng-Chiang
5.>The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances
6.>Human Nature/Family of Blood
7.>Pyramids of MArs

The staying power of Tom Baker from the 1998 DWM poll to the present is pretty impressive, both in terms of top stories as well as being ranked the top Doctor! It's been over 30 years since his last story!

And, Twin Dilemma has been consistently at the bottom! Although, I rewatched it recently and it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered.

While popularity doesn't equal quality, it's interesting to see what people like over of the years. I generally agree with both the top and bottom episodes. A few exceptions. I don't get the love for Talons of Weng-Chiang. And, I do really like The Rings of Akhaten.

Really saddened that Caves of Androzani lost the top spot. It really is the best story that DW has ever produced.

Day of the Doctor is great, but I prefer all the other stories in the said top ten better. Sorry.

That said, it kinda makes sense. Its not long that it was broadcast, and fans all around still like it a lot. It was a great 9th anniversary story, and a cool one to boot. I'm glad it made the top ten, just not as number one - just to clarify that no matter its problems (War Doctor? Really?!), I absolutely love it.

And to add, there's no way Rings of Akhaten is worse than Crimson Horror or at least a couple of other Series 7 stories. Akhaten at least has one absolutely memorable moment with that wonderful, beautiful singing and the Doctor's "take it all!" speech.

The list only tells half the story:

Day received the highest percentage of votes from all ages apart from 36 and over where it came 5th with Blink as the most popular. On average those fans have been watching since 1976, with most DWM readers since 1987.

And whilst I enjoyed DOTD, I would tend to agree that Blink was better. And I am old enough to remember watching the 4th Doctor (not in re-runs)

Can't believe Rings Of Akhaten is rated that low...

It was insipid drivel and for the episode that was hyped as having the "most amazing alien planet ever!" ridiculously cheap looking. I still can't believe someone signed off on the cardboard Space Bike...

Not to mention lifting Blade Runner dialogue wholesale! A real low point, maybe not Fear Her low, but low...even for 7B

Thats rubbish. I guess you both thought Diana Rigg's alien friend was in a better episode, then?

Eh...I enjoyed The Crimson Horror, personally. I don't think Akhaten, nor Crimson belong in the bottom 10.

The Farting Slitheen and Delta and the Bannermen, deserve much more to be there, IMHO

Horrible top 10 and changed for the worse since last time. Only 2 of them would make my top 50 Who stories. Day is the dullest possible number 1. Interesting that the 10th Doctor stories have held their place, those just outside last time like Turn Left have dropped quite a bit. Eleventh Hour debuted at 17th so it suggests that may drop next time. War Games top 60's story is odd, it's good but not that good.

Tom back to top doctor and Matt only just ahead of Tennant. Good to see Donna in second for best companions.

241. The Twin Dilemma

Well, I haven't seen that many of the bad episodes, but I didn't hate Underworld (at least not to the level of Time and the rani). I also actually like The Twin Dilemma, which I've said before.

Human Nature/The Family of Blood, however, is probably my most despised Doctor Who story ever. I'd rewatch Love & Monsters, Fear Her and Time and the Rani in a marathon before I'd even glance at that pile of dung again. I guess if you like watching David Tennant spend 95% of two episodes playing an old Englishman who is in no way the Doctor, in a story that has nothing to do with The Doctor except for the set up and very end, maybe you'd like it. But, personally, I found it incredibly irritaiting and so anti-Who I would never have guessed it was part of the show if it didn't have the last 5 minutes of the second episode, and the theme song.

I couldn't even make it all the way through (although I did skip to the end of episode 2 after getting through part of episode 1, just to see what happened). I have never been more enraged by a Doctor Who story than I was at this. Now, there are some popular Who stories i don't like, but I can get other people liking. I thought that Blink was extremely boring, and had a fairly bad supporting cast trying to make the story work. But, I can see how some might like it (and it introduced the Angels, so that's a point for it). Human Nature/The Family of Blood, though, I'll never understand. Its easily the worst Doctor Who story I've seen, and I'd put it as a contender for worst episodes of a Sci fi television show I've ever seen.

Now that my HN/TFB rant is over , I'll say that I don't totally agree with either part of the list, but its an interesting thing to look at and talk about, even if it did give me flashbacks to some of the worst of Doctor Who.

Crimson Horror is one of my favourite Smith stories. Rings least favourite easily. I didn't care for the singing. Though strangely it was much better sung live at the proms.

10 when DWM did the top 200 DW stories a few years back.

Did they do online voting that time?

It's the first Doctor Who poll in my 25 years as a fan I've taken part in, as you could do it online (via email at least)

Is it worth pointing out that it's a Poll? There are no "right" or "wrong" results, just results.
