My faves, in no particular order:

- Kind of Blue, Miles Davis
- Blues & The Abstract Truth, Oliver Nelson
- Bitches Brew, Miles Davis
- A Love Supreme, John Coltrane
- Saxophone Colossus, Sonny Rollins
- Miles Ahead, Miles Davis
- The Shape of Jazz To Come, Ornette Coleman
- Mingus Ah Um, Charlie Mingus
- With Strings, Charlie Parker
- Emergency!, Tony Williams Lifetime

I would add:
Dave Brubeck Quartet, Time Further Out
Keith Jarrett, The K"oln Concert
Maynard Ferguson, M. F. Horn 3

Eric Dolphy, Out to Lunch should be #11. It's a little sad most of my favorite jazz albums are 50 years old.

I don't know about Top 10, but here are ten that I like a lot (in no particular order):

Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch (taking a cue from above)
Thelonious Monk - Brilliant Corners
Lambert, Hendricks & Ross - Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross! (aka "The Hottest New Group In Jazz")
J.J. Johnson/Kai Winding - Jay and Kai + 6
Jack Bruce & Friends - Things We Like
The Charlie Hunter Trio - Charlie Hunter Trio
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Art Tatum - [pick anything from any time, really -- the man is :censored:ing awesome in the true sense of the word]
Mose Allison - Allison Wonderland (Anthology)
Irakere - Irakere

I'm sure I'll think of more, later.

Interesting topic - I might steal some ideas here for my iTunes collection. ;)

I'm a big Monk fan, but otherwise, my jazz knowledge is pretty limited.

I would add Freddie Hubbard's First Light.
Weather Report's Black Market
Maybe the Crusaders,Wes Montegomery, Cannonball Adderly or Hugh Masekela
I think there was a Jazz Messengers recording with Freddie Hubbard and John Coltrane. Edit to say probably Wayne Shorter not John Coltrane come to think of it.

Gotta put "Blue Train" by Coltrane and "Birth of the Cool" by Davis.

"Sinatra at the Sands" - 1966. Frank singing standards arranged by Quincy Jones and performed with the Count Basie Band. Classic!

My Top Ten:

Herbie Hancock - Headhunters
Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain
Miles Davis - Workin' with
Weather Report - Heavy Weather
Chick Corea - Light As A Feather
John Coltraine - My Favorite Thiings

And A Love Supreme

I've seen Bitches Brew mentioned a lot. I really should check it out. The only jazz album I've ever owned is Kind of Blue.

Well, I feel completely incompetent to name a Top Ten Jazz Albums of All Time (and I'd have a hard time arguing with any named above), but I thought I might participate with with the 10 Jazz Albums out of my own collection that I'd choose if I could only have 10. Turns out, I'm even incompetent to do that!

So here's my Baker's Dozen in alphabetical order (no way I could rank them):

The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out
John Coltrane - Blue Train (man, it was tough to choose from so many great Coltrane albums)
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (likewise for Miles)
Ellington at Newport
Getz/Gilberto
Benny Goodman at Carnegie Hall 1938
Vince Guaraldi - A Charlie Brown Christmas
Charlie Haden Quartet West - Haunted Heart
Diana Krall - All For You
Wynton Marsalis - In This House, On This Morning (another very tough choice as I own every jazz album Wynton ever made as a leader)
Django Reinhardt - Swing 39 (had to have something from the genre of le jazz hot)
Andy Summers - Green Chimneys (chose this over Monk's originals because I so dig Sting's vocals on After Midnight)
Weather Report - Heavy Weather (this was, I think, the first jazz lp I ever bought)

Just one man's very biased opinions...
