Interesting. I had assumed that the topic would be which intellectual properties generated the most income/were most popular in general, not who one's favorites were. With that in mind, I don't know if I can come up with a top ten, but my top two would easily be Batman and Peanuts.
Yeah, the title is somewhat misleading, since all you're asking for is a list of personal favorites. It was sort of odd reading a list of Top 10 Intellectual Properties that didn't mention Star Wars.
Holiday movie characters Sherlock Holmes Dr. Who. Star Trek Star Wars Godzilla Bond/spy thrillers Superheros (DC/Marvel) JAWS Slasher villains
Sherlock Holmes Doctor Who Star Trek Indiana Jones The Prisoner Blake's 7 The A-Team Magnum, PI Star Wars and possibly Jonathan Creek.
When I hear intellectual property, I think of a character, story or song and the person or studio that owns the right to that 'artistic property' Warner Brothers and JK Rowling's Harry Potter For example HBO and George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones George Lucas and Fox ownership of Star Wars Marvel's Ironman etc Hi guys I think this is wrong to call them 'intellectual property' as I recall there is law on this copyright and it lasts maybe the average lifetime of an artist. US law and international laws can be different but usually a book, painting, song or film usually only has an intellectual property that lasts about 70 years. Of course sometimes studios try to re-copyright stuff that's already way past its copyright date for example the Siegel family vs Superman lawsuit. Or you have stuff that's very similar and might have 'borrowed ideas' Bratz Dolls vs. Barbie. Copyrighting the Easter Bunny or Maneki-neko or Old Man Winter is silly. Some companies with expensive lawyers can pull off tricks but generally I don't class stuff that's a ripoff or stuff that's 100 years old or from the 1800s as 'intellectual property'.
