I was just listening to some of the movie soundtracks and realized I just LOVE the Blaster Beam.

I always write it as "bwaaaaarrrrnnng".

It was used in other movies, but never as effectively as when Goldsmith employed it in TMP.

The Blaster Beam was also used for the seismic charge sound used by Jango Fett, in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

Now I must say I hated that. It sounded to me more like a cosmic string collision.

I seem to remember an article talking about the sound a cosmic string would make were it plucked in something besides a vacuum

I agree. The 'toooing' for me is the sound I hear in Michael Giacchino's track 'That New Car Smell' for "Star Trek."
