Too soon. Smothers Brothers retiring from comedy.

I used to love watching the Smothers Brothers do their routine. I lost track of them for a while, and now it looks like they're retiring. Well, they did have a good run, and they were a lot of fun to watch. They've earned a nice long vacation.

Hell, I thought they had quit performing years ago.

Despite their reputation for topical and political humor, I found some of their most enjoyable routines to be the silly stuff, like the “Boil That Cabbage Down” song. And, of course, all the material built around Tommy's catchphrase: “Mom always liked you best!”

I'm going to miss them, they were great entertainers. I hope that they enjoy their well-earned retirement.

I haven't heard anything about these guys in a while, but I used to watch their show when I was a kid. They were very funny, and very much a part of the 60s/early 70s zeitgeist. It's sad to hear of them retiring; time rolls on.

I have fond memories of listening to their stuff on a comedy show that was syndicated for radio int he 80s hosted by Dick Cavett.
I even saw them live at the Red River Exhibition in 1988.

But yeah, I also thought they'd retired a long time ago.

^ i do too. I can't recall any of their bits though...except for the "mom always liked you better" one.

Hell, i thought they died a long time ago!
