Too Serious?: Sexual Assault in RotJ

Jedi are never unarmed. They can kill you with their minds through a television screen if they want to. And lets not forget the mind-control powers.

And remember, Anakin was only 10 when he blew up a battleship and effectively crippled the entire Trade Federation invasion force. And he didn't have any training at all.

That's why everyone from Yoda, Obi-Wan, Bail Organa, Padme, and even Anakin were so shocked by the killing of the Younglings, because it's acceptable behavior in time of war.

Also a good way to not have to justify murdering children? Don't try and commit genocide against their warrior monk culture to the point where they have to fight for their very survival.

Jedi don't want to do that.

Those kids in the temple had been trained for combat since they were babies and had been indoctrinated in Jedi philosophy just as long. They were all incredibly dangerous super-powered killing machines loyal to the guys who the emperor just overthrew.
The Jedi philosophy prevents them from becoming killing machines.

I guess the Shaolin monks have it coming, too? They "train for combat" since they are babies. They are dangerous killing machines.

It is pure GOT fetishism! (a sexual fondness for beautiful women raped, impregnated and enslaved by monsters/demons/aliens whom they then fall in love with);

One more example of George Lucas sneaking the adult in under the radar and getting away with it (fine to kill people as long as they're wearing Stormtrooper outfits). I think Phoboe on Friends summed up the appeal of slave girl Leia quite succinctly and I think everyone loves the girls you meet at conventions as 'Paul' illustrated

(they only had training lightsabers that can't kill or cause serious wounds)

:wtf: Say what? They looked like real lightsabers to me.

It's only "justifiable" behavior from the POV of someone who has turned to the dark side.

I suspect the "no mercy" aspect of the killings may have had something to do with it as well. It's not as though anyone involved with Order 66 was going to accept surrender.

Obviously.

I knew about this kind of training saber, which is obviously not the type seen in AOTC:
The Sith in the Old Republic used a training lightsaber with a durasteel blade covered with the toxic barbs of the pelko bug. A hit from the weapon causes temporary paralysis, simulating the effects of a lightsaber injury.

But I didn't know about the other type.

I think Luke accidentally had his set to training mode in the beginning of ROTJ. That's why it acts more like a baseball bat.
