Too good to be true?

I've been trying to find a 1989 Will Clark replica jersey for the longest time. I've found plenty on eBay but they go for about $200+ and frankly, I don't want the jersey that badly. There have been some for around $70 but have never pulled the trigger because that seems a little too good to be true.

Tonight I decided on a whim to do another search, and Google brought this up:

http://famousstreetwear.com/productview.php?id=246

Yeah...$36 for the exact jersey and the exact size I want. They also seem to carry a ton of other sports merchandise as similarly low prices. Apparently this is a Chinese company based in Hong Kong, which explains some of the Engrish on the site.

So I'm curious...is this just an example of a wholesaler not knowing the value of their goods, or is this some sort of scam? I'd be worried if they asked for bank info, but they accept PayPal, which is (supposed to be) pretty airtight with banking info.

Anybody think I should go for it? Even if it turns out to not be authentic, I'd still have a jersey that *looks* right, and only be out $36...

:shifty:

Have you ever considered just getting a blank Giants jersey and then putting the name and number on it?

Also, my experience with PayPal has been good except for one MAJOR EXCEPTION where I bought something on Ebay and the seller never sent it to me. PayPal said that even though I got ripped off, there was nothing they could do since the seller emptied her PayPal account.

I have thought about that, but finding a blank '89 home jersey and accurate "22" and "Clark" lettering is at least difficult if not impossible to find.

What about the Majestic brand jerseys on Ebay right now for $80-$90 buy it now? None in your size?

they make fake items overseas and sell them freely. They had a FOX News reporter over in China (I think that was the country) in a large selling area where they freely sell fake items, he held up and asked about the fake Rolex, which the Chinese girl acknowledged as being fake.

You're always going to find cheaper things there, and "rare" items, or fake CDs and so forth.

It's probably a scam.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I mean, if it's some cheap Chinese knockoff, what's the point of owning it?

I don't really care if it's not authentic...for $36 I only care if it looks authentic. The *real thing* is ridiculously overpriced anyway. $275 for a jersey? That isn't even signed? :wtf:

As long as I actually get something that resembles what I want, I'll be fine. If they spell his name CLRAK or something then I'll have a problem with it. ;)

Well, I went for it a few days after posting that thread...and turns out it was legit! I just got a package from China today and inside was either an authentic jersey or by far the best fake I've ever seen in my life. It has all of the manufacturer's tags (including a price tag for $350) and it is of very sturdy and quality construction. Turns out it;s made in China, so they might just be a factory outlet of some sort. Like I said, if it is a fake it is the best fake I've ever seen of anything. I'll take and post some pics later.

Gotcha. Upon further investigation I'm thinking this thing might actually be just a very good fake. eBay had a guide to whether or not your Mitchell & Ness jersey is authentic and while it's close, the one I got misses in a few areas. The hang tags are very authentic looking but lack the MLB hologram that the real ones are supposed to have. Also the letters in "Giants" have slightly different serifs.

Oh well, it's still far better than I ever expected to get for $36 and free shipping!
