Provided I have the time and inclination, I half have a mind to go as the T-1000. I have roughly the same build as Robert Patrick and all I'd need was a generic cop costume and some shades. I'd have to find a way to make some convincing bullet hits, though.
Last time I wen to a Halloween party, I dressed up in a Venetian Carnevale mask and cape like one of the characters from the orgy scene in Eyes Wide Shut. I thoroughly freaked out other attendees.

I love Halloween so I have already started planning. I have decided to do the uniform from the new Star Trek movie. That might sound pretty simple but I am not buying it. I am making my own since I think the ones available look cheap and flimsy. I want mine to look exactly like the film with all the proper detailing so I am breaking out my sewing machine.
So far I have drawn out the pattern and worked out how to do that light delta pattern on the fabric for the tunic. In the next couple of weeks I plan on tracking down the correct fabrics and colors. (And if I can't find the right color than I will dye it to match.) I also have to locate the right boots. I am still working out how to create the metal insignia pin though. I am hoping that someone will start selling them in the next month. (They are including some in the special edition of the DVD but I can't wait until November!)
Oh and I am creating this in Science Blue... like my beloved Dr. McCoy.

^ Not a bad idea but I would suggest using hot glue instead. It would be lighter and easier to attach. The easiest way to shape them would be to use the glue gun to make rings and then building up from there while it was still warm, like decorating a cake. You could also carve them out of Styrofoam. Both should be painted with acrylic paint. (Spray paint would make the foam melt.)
(For someone with a bit more experience, I would suggest sculpting the bullet hits in clay first, making a plaster mold and then casting them in mask latex.)

The original costume for the movie had some sort of mylar bits that exploded open through the fabric, so I like the foam idea.
^ Actually they used four or five different techniques for the "hits" including spring loaded "flower" hits and inflatable hits. But almost all of them were made from sculpted foam rubber painted with a special metallic paint. Some of the "hits" were made from a hard rubber for stunt work.
