I’ve posted before about my health issues, hypothyroidism and cardio. I’m on meds and things were fairly under control, a bit of angina on occasion, sometimes a bit strong, but nothing too serious. A few weeks ago, I woke up early in the morning and it felt like someone was nail gunning my chest: repeated sharp pains about 3 inches in. Then it stopped, but my back ached and I was very fatigued for the next 12 hours.
Made an appointment with my cardiologist, who said the initial pains didn’t sound like a heart attack, but the continued ache didn’t sound good. He ordered up tests, echocardiogram, CT scan, and angiogram--which I almost had a year ago but it was decided that things were inconclusive.
I asked if I was crying wolf. The doctor said that a prior stress test shows damage, so he knows there’s some blockage and prior heart attacks. Yeah, heart attacks. I’m not yet 49! This has been going on for around 5 years.
Echocardiogram showed my heart’s working fine, no thickening of walls, etc. CT scan showed my heart is on the large-end of normal but no other problems aside from some lung nodules, which they will look at in six months. (Funny, that’s exactly what my Dad was told. He died in six weeks from cancer--not lung cancer, though.) So what’s left is the angiogram. I’ve had tests but I’ve never had a medical procedure that involved cutting into my body in any way, aside from dental work. Kinda scary, since I’m not sure what they’re going to find.
I’ve been pushing all this worry out of my conscious thinking, since my subconscious just loves to worry. I figure let my subconscious handle it and don’t double the work. But today my worry is spilling over a bit. Hubby is definitely worried but keeps it under control, since he knows that i worry more when I see him worrying.
I honestly think the results are going to be either “minor problem” and they don’t have to do anything, or “minor problem” and they insert a couple of stents.
Anybody here been through this test and have advice?
