Honestly, I'm surprised we didn't get a series sooner.

That news only just came out yesterday, so don't feel too bad.
^ Word is they keep writing "amazingly sensitive and fiercely anti-colonialist" pilots in which Lara realizes that cultural appropriation is exploitative and decides to become an anthropologist dedicated to preserving native folklore and languages, but that they're having trouble thinking up popcorn-worthy action stories for the next few episodes...

I like Fleabag, but other than basic screenwriting competence, I don't see why it would point to Waller-Bridge as being the ideal candidate to write/head a pulp adventure show. A Tomb Raider show should feature an attractive, athletic young woman doing Indiana Jones-type stuff. It's meat-and-potatoes genre stuff that hardly cries out for a unique authorial voice, any more than, say, a hypothetical GI Joe show would cry out for a writer like Aaron Sorkin.

It's not a movie, it's a TV series. And your guess is as good as ours.
Bafta nominated writer Gabriel Bisset-Smith has announced that he is working on two big projects for Amazon. Social media says one of them is the Tomb Raider TV series. But anything can be said on social media. So we will see if it turns out to be true. He will be presenting at the Amazon Upfront event on Monday, where I expect confirmation that the project is still alive.
