If they want to follow the actual stories of her, they should go to the source material.

Or, you know, they could opt to write a good script first and foremost.

The only angle anyone seein' a Tomb Raider movie wants is whichever one showcases Lara Crofts boobs.

This, plus: why show her mackin' on some dude? Ruins the wish-fulfillment fantasy that in the next scene, she'll meet you, and bumpetybumpety... Ergo, they should totally make her a... oh, you all already know where this is headed, don't you?
