Tomb Raider Reboot Coming 2013

Does anyone care anymore? How many video game adaptations have actually been good? And I think they're about a decade past any interest in it.

I posted the story because there maybe still Tomb Raider fans who ARE interested in a reboot. I would be interested if Rose Bryne were approached. I think she'd make a fine Lara Croft.

@Odo_ital and you posted that I posted it anyway...you could have just not bothered posting at all, but you couldn't help yourself could you? ;)

I'm one that likes Tomb Raider, but more as a general property rather than one single element of it--had the first video game (that I never got anywhere close to finishing), had the action figures, and the comics. I liked the first Tomb Raider movie well enough, but I passed on the second one. I definitely wouldn't mind a reboot.

Personally, I hope they don't cast some waif-like/wraith-like, former runway model who's a size -1 in the role...

The Tomb Raider movies are some of the bladest cinema I've ever seen (I never even made it to the end of the 2nd one). There wasn't a single ounce of wit, creativity or originality.

I think they really need to make off-the-wall decisions with this one; tone down the silliness of the action, pull back on the CGI, actually play up the fact that Lara is a hot chick in short shorts, and get people outside of genre cinema to write and direct.

Same here really. I didn't read them all but it had 60+ issues of an ongoing comic book. It lasted longer as a comic in todays age than characters like Ms.Marvel, Iron Fist, Firestorm or Atom.

I'd be curious to see how the reboot develops. If it could be more Indiana Jones/Mummy and less...well whatever the classification is for those two movies the property has potential.

I'd be interested in seeing a reboot of the franchise, but it would be nice to have a more adventure flair to it than the parody it used to be.

Jessica Alba as Lara Croft?

Sorry people, there's only one Lara Croft. It's Angelina Jolie. She practically embodies the character, right down to her facial features, and even the grunts when she jumps around. If the new producers actually had a brain, and wanted people to see this movie, they'd get her back for at least one more. She had expressed interest in doing one more. The only reason I watch those first two movies, is because of her. Shoot, they could go the route of Tomb Raider Revelation, and have both adult Lara Croft, and young Lara Croft. Have a common thing that effects both. Like I said, if they think that people went to see these movies JUST because it was Tomb Raider, they're dead wrong. The story was off, they acting from other actors were laughable, and it looked cheesey. The only thing that saved it, and made money from it was Angelina Jolie. She held both movies together, and made them watchable, and fun. The only thing that could top Jolie, is if they made the movie like Beowulf, and had the real Croft from the games. (With Jolie as the model for Croft.)

Eh, I was havin' a slow day.

:p

I goaned when I heard the words Tomb Raider and Reboot. Like I said, Their answer lies in Tomb Raider Revelation. It revolves around Lara's first mission, and adult Lara returning to it years later.

I do. I just started playing Guardian of Light. Im not sure about the origin game story they have planned for her, though. It looks like they want to make it Tomb Raider Begins.

So, it'd be the teaser of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade stretched out into a full length movie?

...woo...

That's how the game went, though. If they want to follow the actual stories of her, they should go to the source material. They want a young Lara? fine. They want box office? They aint gonna get it. Revelation is a compromise, and a way to see lara from two different angles of her life.

The only angle anyone seein' a Tomb Raider movie wants is whichever one showcases Lara Crofts boobs.
