Sir, with all due respect, did you even see Top Gun, A Few Good Men, Rain Man, Born on the 4th of July, Minority Report, Collateral and the likes?

Sir, with all due respect, did you even see MI:III?![]()
Sort of like the Guest Star of the Week on Police Squad!, who was always offed by the time the opening credits ran?How about if Cruise is a redshirt who meets a swift but painful death? I think I'd pay to see the movie just on that alone.
Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, and Dustin Hoffman to name a few. Don't get me wrong, I like Tom Cruise, it's just that I wouldn't put him in the "major movie star" category.
Sir, with all due respect, did you see Two for the Money, The Bucket List, and Perfume: The Story of a Murderer? Those being relatively recent films featuring Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, and Dustin Hoffman respectively, the gentlemen you cite as major movie stars.Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, and Dustin Hoffman to name a few. Don't get me wrong, I like Tom Cruise, it's just that I wouldn't put him in the "major movie star" category.
Trekkies are a funny bunch. They hate a guy that is supposedly even bigger than all the Trek celebrities combined, and would bring in the general audience to see this movie. But they have to hate him just because he is a big movie star.![]()

So Would I!!! Tommy was a decent guy back when I knew him... but once he got into the Scientology crap he went downhill fast... became a real jerk. Although it would not be that unusual to have a major celebrity with a cameo role... look how many famous celebrities had walk-ons in TNG.How about if Cruise is a redshirt who meets a swift but painful death? I think I'd pay to see the movie just on that alone.

It's more jealousy, I say..Envy is an ugly thing...
No envy or jealousy for me... I used to like the guy... but when he chose his religious crap over his family... that killed it for me.It's more jealousy, I say..Envy is an ugly thing...

I agree
If you want a stunt cameo, get William Shatner!
Any producer or casting director who chose Shatner over Cruise would be pulling shots in Starbucks the next day.![]()
But the name of William Shatner is so strongly connected to Star Trek, that a cameo of him would have much more meaning than one of Mr. Cruise. It would honor his achievments in creating a modern popcultural icon, while Cruise-cameo in a Trek film would just be pointless.
Except, of course, for the fact that so many more people are interested in and like Tom Cruise than William Shatner.
Interested in Tom Cruise: yeah, definitely more people than in William Shatner
Cruise's likeabillity: Don't know. He's definitily not seen as very simpathetic where I come from.
Major movie star? I wouldn't go that far, but he was good in War of the Worlds.
