Tom Baker Joins Big Finish!

Great news about Tom and BF! I read DWM's tweet about this yesterday and it got me excited at finally getting the chance to listen to my first Doctor in a full-blown audio drama. I'll definitely want to check these out when the time comes!

I'm hoping for The Krikketmen and at least one Chris Boucher script.

I wouldn't bet on either of them: Krikkitmen would probably involve horrendous copyright negotiations given the way Douglas Adams rewrote it into the third Hitchhikers book, and Chris Boucher's clear that he never wrote a fourth Doctor Who script (at least, not at during the fourth Doctor's time). Chris had the basic idea for his next story, but the BBC's head of drama told him he couldn't write for Doctor Who while script editing Blake's 7 before he'd got anything down on paper.

"Erinella" (a planet of dragons), "The Haunting" (the Doctor vs. vampires), and "Sealed Orders" would all be good choices for Lost Stories.

I would eat my arm for "Sealed Orders."

On the other hand, I'm tepid about the main series. Knowing Big Finish of late, it'll all be written by Nick Briggs, Alan Barnes, and Johnny Morris, and feature rematches with the Kraal, Eldrad, the Usurians, and the Vardans.

The late Pendant Roberts, who directed Tom, resubmitted Erinella again during JNTs time, unfortunately sending his only copy. It's a lost lost story as they misplaced it.

I wouldn't hold my breath for Sealed Orders. I really couldn't imagine Chris Priest letting Big Finish make the changes that'd be needed to make it work on audio for their budget (and that's assuming he's still got a copy - I'm not sure he has).
