Toasted Skin Syndrome - Bleagh!!

Gross. I love this quote, "This is why scientists everywhere recommend that if something feels like it is hot and burning your skin, you should get away from it." Thank goodness we have scientists to tell us these things!

*shakes head in dismay*

These are the same people who need the "remove before driving" warning label on the windshield covers.

This is why whenever I use my laptop on my lap, I always put a large hardcover book between it and my legs. Of course, I notice something when it gets hot enough to burn me, but I find it helps the laptop run better too when it has ventilation.

Brilliant analysis.

More sage advice from the scientific community:

A red-hot poker will burn you if you hold it too long.

If you cut your finger very deeply with a knife, it usually bleeds.

If you drink much from a bottle marked "poison," it is almost certain to disagree with you sooner or later.

I'm not THAT diligent, putting a book there--but one thing I always make sure to do is set my laptop on my leg in a way that's a little bit "offset," so that the ventilation fan is never blocked.

No, no, no. You never toast skin, that just dries it out and makes it tough. What you do is fry it. The subcutaneous fat will make it light and crispy, perfect for dipping.

And if you do it right, it just comes right off the flesh when you fish the body out of the vat. Otherwise, you'll have to spend hours with needle-nosed pliers getting all of the skin off.

On the plus side, all hair dissolves right off.

Mwah-hah-hah-hah!

I mostly use my laptop laying in bed, with the laptop on my chest; the toasty warmth often puts me to sleep. :rommie:

Serious note, I learned that deep frying dissolves hair from an episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern
