To restore the prime universe timeline, the Narada, like the Enterprise C need to go back...

We're really better off, the prime universe was scrapping the bottom of the barrel due to the canon. We at least have a chance for something great in the new universe.

We all know that JJ had CW cancel the critical darling and fan beloved ratings juggernaut that was Star Trek: Enter... oh.

Might as well just replace Pine, Saldana, Cho and Yelchin with Shatner, Nichols, Takei and Koenig while we're at it.

Primeverse is gone, people *really* need to let go.
The Abrams-verse is just as valid as the Mirror-verse. In other words, it's a interesting and enjoyable side show, but that's all it is. And it pales in comparison to the main event, the prime universe.

Deal with it and move on.

The prime universe is now preserved in amber, forever staying in its current shape and format. The Kelvin timeline is now the main event.

Orci & Kurtzman are TNG fans, and specifically supplied a story for IDW's "Countdown" mini-series that showed Picard, Worf and Captain Data/B4 still alive after Spock Prime journeyed through the space anomaly and joined the action of Nero's new timeline. The 24th century continues as before, and without Romulus.

At the time, Orci & Kurtzman said we should "Think Parallels" (TNG episode).

The quality of a movie doesn't depend on the timeline, it all depends on how it's being written and directed. Into Darkness was set in the Kelvin Timeline and it failed miserably. Beyond on the other hand is a great movie.

That being said, they could do some fabulous movies in the Prime Universe if they wanted to. I've been a fan for 40 years, and I'd hate to see the prime timeline "stuck in amber".

I wouldn't go that far.

I'm willing to bet a lot of money that Fuller's new series will be set in the Prime universe.

Why are diehards so attached to the Prime Universe? Is it a sentimental attachment to "the original?" An unwillingness to let go of favorite characters? Dislike for the new movies? A feeling of incompleteness (there's always more stories to tell)? Another reason?

For me it's dislike of the new movies.

I've been following Star Trek for decades, and I'd love to see it continue. Is that so hard to understand?

The movies are always problematic, be it TOS, TNG or the new movies. The new movies are quite enjoyable, especially Beyond ... but they are all happening in an alternate timeline, which doesn't push the original story forward whatsoever.

Not difficult, no. Not realistic either, as the new movies are continuing their universe and there are now implications from it and the studio that the changes went both ways, that anything seen going forward will suit the artistic aesthetic of the team making the series/movie. Whichever universe it's in.

A combination of all those - mixed with a dash of fan entitlement.

Imagine you have a pet for many, many years ... you had it when it was an infant and you watched it grow and develop. And then it dies. Of course you could get a new pet and start all over again, but it will never be the same!
