TNG Reboot/Re-imagining?

Well they're ramming NuTrek down our throats, seems a logical progression to think how other series might be jazzed up.

Hopefully this is only a little fun though, I wouldn't want to see a revamped TNG, loved it the way it was. But it'd be sacrilege if they even thought to improve DS9!

The thing is, there's really no need to make a new show set in the 24th century, reboot or not. That would only be pandering to a relatively small fanbase in comparison to the viewership they'd want to target. To the casual viewer, there's no difference between the 24th century and the 23rd. Or hell, even the 22nd, based on what we saw in ENT.

I'd love to see the 24th century prime universe again, even if it was just one TV movie. But if I were in charge of CBS and wanted to produce a show that tons of people would consistently watch, I would never in a million years go back to that point.

As a fan of all the Star Treks, at the end of the day, I couldn't care less about what the studio thinks is viable or whether they can make money from it.

Of course, those are considerations that the studio has to take into consideration when deciding to do something and as businesses, it's obviously up to them to make those decisions.

I'm just talking as a fan, though, and I can't for the life of me understand why any fans, outside of those concerns, wouldn't want to see an updated, modernized retelling of a good series -- that they liked.

Seems to me the thought process is "I wouldn't watch it because it can't make money."

This is the point I sometimes make about whether to set the next series in the prime universe or the Abrams universe. Unless you go out of your way to spell it out, the majority of the viewers wouldn't know the difference.

In terms of the century, do what TOS (largely) did and don't spell it out. It's just the future, eventually the hardcore fans will figure out where to place it. But the casual viewer never has to be told.
