TNG reboot in future ?

^ Yes, but remember that the powers that be at Paramount have absolutely no control over whether or not a new Trek TV series is made. Those rights rest solely with CBS and Paramount can't stop them. So I still say CBS will bring out a new TV series based on the success of the films.

God. I hope not. I REALLY want to be done with TNG already.

This crew and TOS has PLENTY of mileage in it. There is not even the remotest need to bring back TNG in any way. Especially since only a few years ago the public gave a pretty clear signal as to just how monumentally UN-interested they are in going to see a TNG film.

I think the way things currently stand, they'll probably reboot TOS again--and bring in yet another new cast to play Kirk and the gang--rather than reboot TNG.

That's what I imagine would happen.

The TNG crowd could easily still exist, and there's nothing to stop any of the series from being recast and done over (even ENT tho the timeline thing doesn't apply there). My picks for recasting:

Picard - Wentworth Miller w/no hair
Riker - Timothy Olyphant
Worf - Christopher Judge
Dr. Crusher - Cynthia Watros w/red hair
Tasha Yar - Katee Sackhoff
Geordi LaForge - Harold Perrineau
Deanna Troi - Morena Baccarin (who will be killed off instead of Tasha, who is far more interesting than boooooring Deanna)
Data - Alan Tudyk

EWWWWW, OOOOOOLLLLLLDDD PEOPLE.

I have a strange hunch that if Trek returns to TV, it won't be until after the second movie (assuming that it'll be super big money maker [and judging from the first movie, I strongly suspect it will]) and that it'll be a Saturday morning cartoon series.

I don't know why I think that; I just do.

This crew and TOS has PLENTY of mileage in it.

But these actors would probably not want to do more than 3 movies and then if TV is the next stage I would be happy with a 5 years TOS J.J era show but if they carry on movies they will want to keep characters well known and in ways TNG is more popular than TOS.

Personally I wouldn't mind and believe a return to TV should be delayed because it would dilute the fact that new fans at the moment can easily get into the Star Trek J.J and co has planned. We saw SCC fail and in some ways I believe domestically it was one of a few reasons why T-4 flopped. If we had a TV show for several years I believe any movie to follow would be harmed in the process.

I can see things probably playing out like the original movie/TV franchise did. The current crew will make movies till they're stale, but while they are doing well, a new TV series will be launched. Then, this cast will have its final movie while the show is still on the air, then the next movies will feature the cast from the TV show, and most (if not all) of the movies spun off from the TV show will suck. :p Only after that can we start the whole cycle all over again.
