TNG movies -- security chief?

The writers probably chose to ignore it rather than risk having to pay another actor big bucks in the future for becoming a new part of the crew.

Daniels was in Insurrection...
Yep. He was in First Contact, too, but it wasn't until Insurrection that he was given a name (I believe Riker is the one who calls him "Mister Daniels").

I was kind of upset that he wasn't in Nemesis. I was also upset that the Trill conn officer from Insurrection wasn't in Nemesis either. I liked the idea of introducing a few new members of the crew, even if they weren't really important.

You know, I liked Perim (the Trill.) I thought she was a nice addition and had a good rapport with Riker. Daniels I was so-so on. On the one hand, it was nice to have an Ordinary Joe security chief for a change, but on the other, he was just an Ordinary Joe.

But in either case, I fully supported adding 'background' crewmembers in the movies, for both TOS and TNG.

If Daniels really was indeed the E-E's Chief of Security, he really should have been present for the senior staff meeting in FC. Come to think of it, it would have been kind of neat to see some n00b sitting around with all the established folk we'd all come to know and love.

Well, obviously someone had to take the conn while they were having their Picard Pity Party. :shifty: ;)

Yes, it was Daniels, the guy whom Picard orders to continue to face the Borg even over Worf and Lily's objections.

Daniels remained security chief for Insurrection.

By the time of Nemesis, the security chief was Christine Vale (http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Christine_Vale), except that she was taking vacation at the time so Worf was filling in.

How convenient!

There's a bloke standing there at the beginning of First Contact, but as soon as Worf's on the ship, he takes over. Hardly a ringing endorsement, and he's never seen again. Maybe he was a bit crap, but Picard couldn't replace him, because his dad was a high-ranking admiral. Evidently Mr Daniels was not the tactical officer at that point, otherwise you'd expect him to be on the bridge during a battle against the Borg. He might have been in charge of internal security though.

Since Mr Daniels appears to have been promoted by Insurrection, I guess Picard sent his hapless predecessor down on a little solo "reconnaissance" mission to the middle of the Borg hive, which solved that problem.

I'm going to pretend that Daniels was taking a dump and therefore could not make it to the meeting.

No, future Humans are too prefect for that sort of nonsense. It was a meeting for JLP and friends, newbie didn't get an invite.

By the 24th Century, I'd expect them to install mini transporters in your colon to just beam the waste into subspace.

This was definitely a JLP BFF's meeting.

Not subspace, bulk matter.

Who wants chili for dinner?:)
