TNG Episodes That Cheer You Up

Thine Own Self: It's comforting to finally see Troi push herself & then Data making friends with another kid is always good for a smile

I get a kick out of this exchange from that episode

Data: Where is your mother?
Gia: She died about a year ago. Father says she went to a beautiful place where everything is peaceful and everyone loves each other, and no one ever gets sick. Do you think there's really a place like that?
(Data gazes out at the moon and stars)
Data: Yes. I do.

I'll write a list of episodes that cheer me up later but I'll start with Thine Own Self and add all the episodes where Troi wears her blue dress.

;)

I like most of the episodes with Lwaxana Troi, she's awesome. I wish I had a mother like her when I was growing up. :)

I also quite like the S7 episode Emergence, where the Enterprise has a baby.

One that comes to mind is "Rascals." Nothing like seeing young Picard throwing a tantrum until he is taken to his "dad," Will Riker. His number one dad. :)

Matter of Perspective also one of my favorites.
The difference in the perspective was fun too but Data basically telling him is painting was bad, priceless.
DATA
Interesting.

PICARD
How so?

DATA
While suggesting the free
treatment of form usually
attributed to Fauvism, this quite
inappropriately attempts to
juxtapose the disparate cubistic
styles of Picasso and Leger. In
addition, the use of color
suggests a haphazard melange of
clashing styles. Furthermore, the unsettling
overtones of proto-Vulcan
influences...

Picard's features have become progressively clouded
during this speech and finally he's had enough.

PICARD
(strained)
Thank you... Mister Data.

DATA
You are welcome, sir. If I may
be of any further assistance --

PICARD
No... thank you.

Q-Pid is the first episode of Star Trek I remember watching and it still makes me smile.

Other episodes that make me smile:

Hallow Pursuits
The Schizoid Man
Relics
Rascals (Number 1 Dad)

Oh jeez, it would be so difficult to choose. This series always cheers me up - even the darker ones, Chain of Command, etc. Well I guess Dark Page is kind of a bummer any way you cut it but - off the top of my head:

The Naked Now (Data's limerick)
Haven (Data: "Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.")
Angel One (Funny for all the wrong reasons. Good old season 1.)
The Arsenal of Freedom (Great stuff, S1 doesn't get much better than this)
The Neutral Zone (Those old popsickles they thaw out!!)
The Emissary (Worf gets laid... at last)
Captain's Holiday (Picard: Sex and shooting)
Yesterday's Enterprise (So good.... so very good...)
The Offspring (Cheerful yes. But also very sad!!)
I, Borg (Let's make friends with the Borg boy! Dr. Crusher is the sole voice of reason...)
Relics (Scotty: It's Green, no bloody A B C or D!)
Rascals (Picard: "He's my number one dad!)
A Fistful of Datas (So silly... but good fun)
Tapestry (Great fun with Picard's second chance at life)
Timescape (Picard's smiley on the warp core breach)
All Good Things (Very fun and optimistic.)

Long (personal) story, but my sister and I had an argument during Thanksgiving 2015, which resulted in leaving her house and ending up at my parents who live 10 minutes from her to cool off. Wasn't my finest moment, but the full details are not the point, which is that I calmed down by watching TNG. I settled for "Yesterday's Enterprise" and "Timescape" as a means of calming down/cheering up.

Timescape is good comfort food. I've been back to that one countless times

Funny interaction from a different episode that has a similar feel:

Picard: It is exactly as they left it Number One, in the bottle.
(dumbfounded looks from Data and Worf)
Picard: The ship in the bot– Oh, good Lord. Didn't anybody here build ships in bottles when they were boys?!
Worf: I did not play with toys.
Data: I was never a boy.
(Picard sighs)
O'Brien: I did, sir!
Picard: Thank you, Mister O'Brien.

I think that is one of the funniest scenes in all of Trek. It is just so charming and you could only do those lines in Star Trek. Michael Dorn's delivery is hysterical. So good.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that Worf was into building ancient Klingon sailing ships in bottles. Was that later?

Edit: He was trying to build a model ship in "Peak Performance." Not in a bottle, though.

TNG is the comfort food of TV shows for me. It just makes me feel all cozy and warm inside and I watch it when I want to feel that. It's hard to even pick specific episodes because the whole show just makes me feel at home.
You really captured the essence of what I was trying to get at, right there. TNG's desire to entertain is so genuine that it always does exactly that. The edges of the pages have started to yellow, perhaps, but the stories are timeless ...

Timescape...just a good ol' entertaining "we can fix shit" episode.

Plus this:

Encounter at Farpoint (nostalgia that takes me back to the sheer EXCITEMENT of that moment when Trek returned to TV)
11001001
Deja Q
Captains Holiday
Ménage a Troi
QPid
Family

The Next Phase cheers me up as well. It's good to see Ro exploring herself, & the two of them working things out together, & maybe even opening up some pathways to a good friendship. It's one of the instances where Ro is shown building relationships with a crew she has otherwise been at odds with. The memorial service? How does that not put a smile on your face? I'm going to go watch it now :p
