TNG Episode "Conspiracy"

I recently saw the episode Conspiracy and something seemed odd about the debris field of the Horatio, what happened to the remains of the crew?

They never showed that sort of thing on television back in the day. Dunno if it was the gore or cost. When I was a kid I imagined they were all incinerated in the explosion. Ah carefree youth.

What's odd is that there is a localized debris field at all. Each piece of debris should move in a quasi straight line from the moment it had been expulsed from the ship, a ship doesn't have enough mass to generate a notable gravitic field, after a few hours the debris should be dispersed over thousands of kilometers...

...Which may be exactly what we're seeing. After all, every time somebody in Trek says "thousands of kilometers", it looks like about two ship's lengths.

Why there are no bodies in there is left unexplained. Why did the ship blow up? Because 75% of the crew was already possessed, and the remaining 25% bravely tried to stop them - but failed, the possessed making their getaway at the last moment, and the heroes all vaporized in the most efficient blast they were able to arrange for?

I recall some grizzly memories... "Conspiracy" had no qualms using grubs being eaten, not to mention two phasers shattering some guy's skull in a real Kodiak bearish moment. Yet they couldn't discuss a thousand gut puddles floating in amongst the various metals and debris?

As schizophrenic as early TNG as, for ostensibly being a family show (complete with families onboard ship as well), they just came out of a planet where everyone was oiling each other up after breakfast. Before breakfast too.

Being late-80s and the fads of the time due to magazines like Fangoria being the replacement to the pet rock, and - of course - shows like Double Dare and Garbage Pail Kids ensuring even the kids got something gross on a family-friendly level as well, the adults didn't want to be left out so some other TV shows, like "War of the Worlds", freely showed gore worthy of the age range.

In canon, maybe the bodies evaporated due to the heat of the explosion? (I just peeked up and got a glimpse; Timo already nailed it...)

I heard of the pet rock. Sometimes the difference between commerce and stealing money is paper-thin. The pet rock had one of the largest markups in history. Its inventor became a millionaire in no time after which he became the target of countless lawsuits because people realized that being sold a rock as a pet is kind of a scam!!!
